This philosophy only helps his games. Although Shadow of the Colossus and ICO are not directly linked together, I like that SotC is a spiritual prequel to ICO. I hope he will release a collection on the ps3, because his games can only benefit from a higher resolution.

...and higher polycount.

I for one would love a remake of SOTC on PS3. Imagine how the environments could play more of a part or just how great the creatures could be made to look and behave!

I still can't get over just how good the horse was animated!

The game is a 10/10 in my books.

I'd love the idea of a Team ICO collection for the PS3. Nonetheless, if it doesn't happen, I'm more than happy to learn that they're working on The Last Guardian AKA Project Trico. That for sure is one great PS3 exclusive to look forward to.

Although Ueda-san said that he left it up to the player to decide, he did confirmed that both games are connected.

Plus, the story's are too open-ended to keep going on and on. It would be forced and it wouldn't be believable.

How could you really continue Ico? Ico and Yorda take a walk on the beach?

Eagerly anticipating The Last Guardian and the enhanced versions of Ico and SotC though.

That is why LAST GUARDIAN is awesome .

Not a sequel but different mecanics .
I love this world because he use different way to tell stories in them .

Imagine an author telling a story of Ancient Greek, then tells another story in Egypt. Different places but same world. That's how I see it playing ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.

Some games are meant to stand alone. I'm looking at the Final Fantasy franchise, especially FF7.

I expect a bunch of hot disagrees, but it's imho a case where the new stuff (compilation) flat out isn't as good as the original game. The overall integrity suffers for its great popularity amongst fans. And while good games have resulted in spite of that (namely Crisis Core) they've done nothing for the overall product but muddle events unnecessarily.

while i do enjoy sequels, devs like Ueda-san are the reasons why i'm still playing games. I ALWAYS believe that the BEST games are made without a sequel in mind.

Too many publishers(cough,Activ..,cough ) fail to understand that logic, and they will realise it when gamers finally get sick of the endless CODs. While the sales of odst proves there are still lots of mindless gamers out there, i believe the day will come.
