Not me. Portability (especially the best in technology) comes at a price I'm willing to accept. Spent over 5 grand in mobile devices in the past 3 years.

PSPgo technology is the same as buying a PSP-3000 and not using UMDs.

As a Sony fan, i reject the price. I'm gona wait to see what happens after the holidays.

1.2 - Well....
When you can get the PSP 3000 (Which has UMD slot and USB) and a 16GB SD card for relatively cheaper, why bother? It's sort of a step back.

What am I supposed to do with my awesome games on UMD? Throw 'em away?

1.4 - You can't....
PSP 3k = $179
16 Gig Pro Duo = $60-100 in retail stores.

So you're only saving $10 at the most. This article is ridiculous anyway, because it's just a small minority complaining. The Go is going to do just fine because there are tons of people who want them on the forums.

Even if you did have to spend $10 more, isn't it worth having the UMD drive?

1.6 - If you prefer it...
That's why there are two versions, so if you prefer UMD or no UMD you can choose! The Go was made because everyone was complaining about UMDs. I personally prefer no UMD.

Well I'm getting one. Reasons being:
A) It's a lot more portable. It's only slightly bigger than an iPhone whereas a 3000 is just a bit too long to slip into pockets.
B) Just look at it. I'm a sucker for sexy gadge and the go is sexy with a sliding screen!
C) The pause game function is damn nice!
D) I very very rarely play my UMD games and will pick up the 3 free ones that I would miss the most, so no problem
E) The whole thing just shouts premium product.

Yeah it's pricey, but if I'm going to be enjoying the PSPs rebirth, I wanna do it in style. :D

Sony have to realise that it's too expensive!
I still have my PSP1000 and when I first saw the PSPgo I thought it looked great. I would love to get one but I aint paying that much for it. In the UK it is only £20 cheaper than the PS3!!
Don't get me wrong, I aint knocking the PSPgo, I actually really do want one, I just can't justify paying that much for it, even if it was £50 cheaper I'd be in.

If I was going to buy one of thee, it wouldn't be replacing my PSP-1000, it would be an addition to it. Some games I might like to play on the GO, so I'll get it for PSPgo, and some games I'll play at home, so I'll get them for my PSP-1000.

Better reasoning would be "Sony fans already have PSP, don't need new optional hardware for portable gaming."

1.11 - I'm gonna cave and buy one.
You are not at a disadvantage if you don't buy a go.
You can still access everything a go owner can.

So what is the big deal?
Stop worrying about how others spend their money.

Also, the way Sony has dealt with the go has proved one thing.
They are focusing on people that don't have a PSP yet, not
the ones that already have one.

Now, if down the line Sony goes, "We aren't doing UMDs anymore" Then you can be mad, just a little.

1.12 - eh, not really.
I don't mind the price. I's new, you pay a premium for that. What I don't like and what is keeping me from getting one is the fact I have no way to use my existing PSP library on the new PSP. It's smaller which makes it more portable and the button placement on the unit is much better. I don't use my PSP 1000 much because of the fatigue on my thumb. The new PSP is much better in that reguard.

i think is in a stage in which they would like to try out if digital downloads for games will work. The pspgo is more like a "beta test", if it will work out for them then they will be happy but if not will drop the price of the go, because i really think they are a making a substantial profit out of that $250 price tag.

1.15 - From a Sony Fan
Not to be confused with fanboy.

The PSPGo is overpriced. When you can buy a PS3 for 50 more dollars than a handheld there is a problem with the handheld's price. I wouldn't knock anyone for buying it but if I am going to spend my hard earned money I am going for the best bang for my buck. With a $299 PS3 on the market I cant see spending 250 for a PSP.

Nintendo DSi - $169.99
Nintendo Wii - $199.99

Nobody is complaining.

Hell the Zune HD is technically more expensive than an Xbox 360 (at least with the $50 rebate). (PGR on an MP3 player leads me to believe it's MS's handheld gaming system now).

I'm a Sony fan, but why the hell are some of you so picky.

1.17 - It's not hard to figure out why people are complaining.
PSP 3000 $169
PSP Go! $249

The Go! is the new cool hardware, but doesn't play existing PSP users library of games and UMD movies. Had Sony simply released a PSP 4000 based on the same hardware design, but removed the UMD drive people would have just laughed. What Sony did was re-release the same product, but without support of the existing customer base. If Sony released a PS3 slim without a Blu-Ray drive and for more money people would be just as upset. Essentially that is what they did with the PSP.

1.19 - You are right
You are right. I also spent a little change buying Windows Media smart phones, iPods, iPod Touches and PSPs over the years. I preordered my PSP Go with an additional 16 GB micro M2 memory card. My girl brought my 2 $50 PSN cards and I will add to that to get more games. If I want something and I have the money I buy it, if I don't, I won't buy it.

I know the price is $50 cheaper than a PS3 Slim. I got my PS3 Slim at launch and put a 500GB hard drive in it so I will have plenty of room to store my PSP GO games (PSN ID Flowingwind).

This site should just call itself Amazon Watch since all its content caters around the constantly updating Amazon Best Sellers list.

I personally am skipping on the Go, the lack of a UMD transfer program is just another nail in the coffin in my opinion. I will however use this as a opportunity to get my hands on a cheap 3000 model or even the 4000 if rumors are true since my 1000 broke.

3 - PSP Go - Way too expensive
For only $50 more you can get a PS3. Really think that one over in terms of what you get between the two systems. Even $200 is too expensive. Sony should have dropped the PSP 3000 to $150, and priced the PSP Go at $170, which is what the 3000 costs now. I'm a Sony fan, and I'm saying the PSP Go will be a huge failure.

5 - I don't have a PSP
so I guess for me it makes more sense to get the PSP Go!
I've gotten used to mini-games on my iphone, and there is no way in bloody hell I want to be carrying around a load of small discs that suck power from the PSP and that I have to swap.

The PSP Go is a step in the right direction, however the price is high and owners of PSP2000/3000 shouldn't bother buying it.

i think they really want u to buy a ps3 slim thats why the price point is so high if u r willing to spend the 250 for a PSPgo you would fork over the extra 50 bucks to get a slim. my gut feeling tells me it'll be 199 by april 2010 either that or it'll be bundled with more than one item. i have about $100 in reward certificates at best buy and never owned a PSP b4 but really want one, does anyone think i should use it on the PSPgo? i already have an 360 elite, MGS4 80gb PS3 bundle, and a Wii

Elven6 hey then you can call your site PR Watch since you like catering to video game PR companies.

Yes, the PSP go is too expensive, especially when video game sales are slumping month-to-month and hardware makers are discounting, not testing premium pricing.

early adopters pay. i'm an early adopter of awesome hardware. i also sold my 3000 back in the spring knowing something was coming down the line. i dont touch my umds after getting what i want out of them so i'm set.

total this will cost me about $75. the added bluetooth so i can use my ps3 controller while cradled or hooked into a tv is well worth that $75. i'm ready to move my music from my iphone to it as well.

so, yeah, excited...

11 - Well
I'd consider getting a PSP go by trading in my 3000 and paying the difference if they had a UMD transfer/conversion program.

But the fact that 'upgrading' to the GO would eliminate 80% of my PSP category, it would make absolutely zero sense to me.

What it all comes down to, is if Sony want current PSP owners to shell out money for the Go, they have to take care of the fact that the user's UMD library will become worthless.

Plus the 3000 has a bigger screen.

I love my PSP. But I'm not buying this. I bought my PSP at launch and it has received more playtime than any of my consoles.

The problem I see here is fairly old tech being overcharged for. The PSP was a great device upon release, the PSPgo is just... I dunno. I hoped they were just going to step it up and make a new PSP, a successor to the original. But I guess not. A UMD'less 3000? no. thank. you. I'll stick with my trusty 1000.

If Sony can sell a PS3 for $300 they should not be selling a PSPgo for $50 cheaper. Thats an absolute ripoff.

And they also have no way (yet?) to transfer old UMDs to the go. No trade-in program...nothing at all.

I'm dissapointed in Sony with the go. But I give them an A for effort :)
