The 360 is doing better in Japan than it's predecessor. The support with JRPGs and a few other games is showing that. Unfortunately, beyond the basic JRPG support, the 360 is behind the PS3 simply because so many Japanese gamers identify with the PS brand. I don't talk about the Wii because it's a different audience. The Wii outsells both because if it's casual appeal. Of course it appeals to the people who love Nintendo franchises, but outside of them, it's all about the average person playing a game. Just something I've noticed.

actually it is, the only reason the original xbox didn't sell well in japan was the lack of anything they liked. but with this one and the lower dev costs its like the ps2. im actually starting to see small devs make games, and the fact taht genki made a game on the system shows that.

ON TOPIC: The 360 isn't doing any better in Japan than it was before. It's still getting gangraped by the other systems. Yes, it's doing better than the original Xbox, but that's not saying much, no offense.

Telling people handhelds sell better then the HD consoles gives the impression that the ps3 isn't doing well in japan...of course they average about 10,000 ps3s sold each week....which actually murders the xbox 360's contribution of 6,000-5,000 paltry consoles....

Well, over there they have generally a different lifestyle then us Lazyboy couch potatoes. They have faster more sophisticated wireless networks and they have a plethory of devices that are ripe for such an environment. So it's only natural that over there portable devices would be doing so well.

snuka, PS3 has to sell in America and Europe in order for Sony to really make money as the yen is almost equivalent to our US 1 cent, and about half that in brittish pounds.

Part of the reason it's not doing as well as the PS3 and Wii, in addition to Sony/Ninty being the main choices, the 360 also cost slighty more then a PS3 over there IIRC.

PCs are great, but if you are only going to get one console why would you pick the Xbox when so many of its games can be played on the PC with better performance and free online play?

This gen I have a 360, PS3 and gaming PC and if I drop any console it would be the 360 or the next Xbox since so many of its games, from multiplats to "exclusives", can be enjoyed on the superior PC.

The PS3 is worth owning because so many of its games can only be played on that system and nowhere else. I look at my library of 360 games and most of them are games that I wish I would have bought for the PC (I was out of PC gaming for a while and that is the main reason I bought those games for the 360).

Next gen Microsoft is going to have to do something really special to get me to buy their next console. Otherwise I will just stick to the PC and PS3.
