I wouldn't quite say they suck but they are nothing more than average. All the develop are below average to average games. Had World at War not carried the CoD title it would have been just another average shooter in the haystack.

Anyway, the day I cut Treyarch some slack is the day they start creating rock solid games that are above average. :P

Treyarch did a fantastic job on CoD: WaW, and are now supporting the game with its 2nd map pack in June.

Infinity Ward did a terrible job of supporting CoD4 with one crappy map pack, not to mention the connection issues and the "Host End Game" garbage.

Looking forward to MW 2, but to say CoD4 was way better then WaW, you guys must not have even played it or you just suck at it.

lol IW did the legwork on their new engine...all they did was make maps re-skin weapons and perks and modded attack dogs instead of the choppers...

They didn't even try to make the main menu's any different...

Then they released COD3... Sorry, that game was butt nasty. After COD:WaW though, they won back my appreciation. My appreciation goes by games and on a game by game basis. Make one bad one and you're out. Make a good one and you're back in.

The problem is they don't give us what we want, thats the difference its another reason why Infinity Ward are better..

Infinity Ward and Treyarch have some rivalry themselves so its not like its the fan boys fault the 2 companies actually argue over the COD games, and most the people can tell that Infinity Ward are the better Developers for the COD series.

4 - Prior Dev Experience makes the difference.

Treyarch's history in their games as far as I am aware wasn't primarily shooters, when compared to IW which was formed from ex-EA MOH people to make their vision of a WWII FPS.
Of course IW will be more interested in improving the game. If your dev company got the chance to do a huge franchise it would be stupid to turn it down. IW created COD, Treyarch were the lucky buggers chosen to help out with demand.

Seriously, Treyarch have never ever made a great COD game and its the reason why Infinity Ward arent using COD in Modern Warfare 2 most likely (good for them)

I got WaW for PS3 and I hated it right away, the only good thing about it was that it had Kiefer Sutherland.

The only good game Treyarch have ever made which I owned was Spiderman 2 and you have to admit, it was pretty damn good. Until they can turn themselves around, Treyarch will always be an inferrior studio.

treyarch is a hired gun developer

they are a giant house meant to crank out games fast, games absed on existing licenses, or franchises

to date that have done next to nothing original, their latest being call of duty world at war

i struggle to even call it a game, it seems to be nothing but a mod of call of duty 4 only with a bunch of problems

treyarch undoubtly has talented people, but until they do something original they won't get much credit from me

While I was a W@W hater at 1st, I have come around and actually just traded for it. I do believe that Treyarch benefited 100% from being able to use the MW engine and that allowed them to focus on the other, less technical aspects of the game, Zombie mode is fresh and fun to play with friends...

I enjoyed World at War. I felt it was a far more enjoyable experience than Modern Warfare, and to be honest, M.A.G. will be getting my holiday money, not Modern Warfare 2. I'll just wait for the inevitable double-dip GOTY edition with extra crap down the road...and at a discount no less.

I'm sorry but I just can't get with this camp that speaks to the tune of Infinity Ward can do no harm. Perhaps I just can't agree that modernized combat is something I need to see. I see it on TV, it's on the NEWS, I want my gaming with ample doses of fantasy, or a reality I'm not currently living.

While I wouldn't say they "suck" what have they ever truly done that shined and was a great game? They're riding the call of duty name all the way to the bank. World at war was a good game, but it was an extension of what IW created, If you take call of duty world at war, take away EVERYTHING Infinity Ward thought of you have nothing original outside of the zombie mode. They use IW's multiplayer, their engine, the call of duty name and mimic everything IW does but add nothing. Look at MW, a lot of it was fresh and new. Now with MW2 you have that and add snow mobiles, scuba diving etc. Treyarch rides the coattails of IW, if they want fame and glory, they need to do something for themselves.

I think Treyarch did good with CoD 3, the weapon models look WAAAAAYYYY better than CoD 5's CoD 4 engine models; they just kind of sold out a little by using the CoD 4 engine, I don't think it has the "grit" for a WW II game, but at least they didn't use the Unreal engine.

Nah, keep bashig them, CoD; WaW was the second worst game i played last year, with Far Cry 2 the worst (only cos i couldnt complete it cos of constant, and in the end, game ending bugs that didnt let me progress) The CoD franchise needs to be slowed down, they are gonna burn it out and the games are gonna keep getting worse.

exactly, if it werent for activision and treyarch pumping out COD games we would have1 vastly different Call of duty game every 2-3 years

Just look at the balance of Weapons (Multiplayer) in COD:WaW and COD2, which are both WW2.

No Wonder everyone in WaW runs with thompson.

Also COD:WaW has errors in weapons, example, you CANNOT reload an M1 Garand. You have to empty 1st.

just as with every game realism is sacrificed for balancing

a fair share of the weapons in cod4 have variable fire rates(G3,m16a4) but they are stuck in one mode for balancing purposes

and not everybody runs with a thompson in waw, the mp40 has become the gun that 90% of people use because they discovered that it is more accurate with steady aim hip firing than having to LT aim

people put steady aim on mp40s and just spray....constantly, a good 80% of the guns in the game are rarely used

the leveling system in waw is also quite unbalanced, you rarely have anything to look forward to because they just give you everything that you want at the early levels

COD WAW is full of bug connection is really bad compare to cod 4 the you had all the getting under the map glitches which i admit i did because of poor programming and now you have no tank in hardcore mode which is rubbish the levels which had the tank a big, It was probably the camping sniper that got rid of the tank because they could camp all the time in one spot bring back the tanks in hardcore will make it harder but better where you need real skill on that level. On a whole though the atmosphere on cod 4 is better multi-player is better and single play more fun and computer controlled friends and better

Vietnam isn't exactly a 'WW' though...so I guess that is good...in fact there really hasn't been a good vietnam based first person shooter yet...Battlefield vietnam was ok, but largely just 1942 with a different backdrop, and a focus on online more than anything...and the shellshock 'nam series has always been a joke and nothing more...

but agreed as far as WWII goes...which is exactly why I never purchased world at war...same WWII movie ripoffs left and right...the russian sniper segment was ripped right out of Enemy at the Gates...which call of duty 2 alread did (even your russian guys name was Viseli (sp?) in cod 2...just like enemy at the gates)...its old...period...you can call it a 'great game' if you want...but some of us simply won't purchase stuff we've already played...didn't I push the germans back to the Reichstag in Call of Duty 1?...i'm pretty sure I did...

world at war was mediocre at best...when you have titles like Gears of War, MGS4, and Uncharted out this generation....there is simply no room for that mediocrity imo...if you like online...Halo 3, modern warfare, and killzone 2 crap on world at war's blatant rehash of its predecessors...

but unlike many...I never blamed Treyarch...I blame Activision...they found something that worked in late 2003...and have granted us annual sequels more or less ever since...if you really think world at war is great...you simply have no problem paying full price for something that is basically an expansion pack with updated graphics...that has never worked for me...but to each their own...
