I know it's not.
It's as much gameplay as that Motorstorm E3 trailer.
Still, the screenshots of it are ingame, and they look incredible.

It's funny how fast you can tell this is'nt gameplay, but at the same time you believe every Ps3 game trailer to be ingame (because the developers say so...duh!). Killzone, Motorstorm, Drake's Fortune (No one has seen the game actually being played so you can't say I'm wrong).

highps3: I agree with you, the Motorstorm E3 2006 trailer looks better than this trailer. The game itself will be another story...

It looks to me, while obviously not real-time, that there were a lot of in-game assets in use there. Check out the screens and compare them to that trailer.

Hello everyone, my first post. Ive been following the site for over a year now but finally decided I needed to be able to comment.
I realize this place can be a hostile environment, but I try to remain evenhanded.
Anyhow, my take is that it is unbelievable how much this trailer pulls from the motorstorm 05 trailer. I would say that while obviously not in-game, this displays all of the levels of destruction, super-varied environments and realism that motorstorm didn't quite deliver on. I read a while back one of the interviews about this game and it blew me away. I know that features can get canned as development goes along, but if the real game has physics, graphics and I must say most importantly lighting that closely matches this trailer then in my opinion Dirt WILL deliver what we all expected back in 2005.

Hey... Was motorstorm really that good? To me it sucked.. It looked like a update ver. of Rallisport challenge 2 on the xbox1..

Not that RSC2 sucked but U Fonyfanboys better get used to good graphics from now on.. I belive Dirt is pretty close to the trailer...

But like everyone said, it's just not in game.

But don't diss motorstorm if you don't even own a ps3, or are only going by that crap demo of motorstorm that were in stores....

I've read a lot about the Neon grapichs engine thats powering this game and I don't see anything in the video thats not technically possible. The engine can simulate earth, from tiny particles up to boulders, deformable dirt, wind that causes smoke and dust to vortex behind cars, add that to the usual hdr lighting, depth of field, etc, blah blah and your not far off. Its not a replay of a race obviously as the cam went off the cliff, but I Reckon it will look pretty close.

Hope the trailer does justice to the actual game itself, this is Colin McRae probably one of the most adventurous drivers in the rallye world. If they can re-create the interior-camera look of PGR3 with the backgrounds on this trailer, it would surely be a winner!
