Lode Runner fans furious with Microsoft

OXM UK has reported that a sudden price change to Lode Runner has left fans furious.

Lode Runner was originally due to be released for 1200 MS Points but upon its debut, only cost 800 MS Points. Microsoft quickly changed the price back to 1200 MS Points but only after some people had already bought it, leaving those who missed out angry that they had to pay the extra cost.

I think most games should be priced at 800 points. Especially remakes lke this one. Only bigger releases like Braid, Castle Crashers etc deserve the 1200 point price tag. And it's still debatable...

I can't argue with that. It's true that a lot of XBLA games should be much cheaper.

Still, don't you think this article is an overreaction (especially how it tries to represent EVERY Lode Runner fan)? I mean, it was advertised at 1200 points for a couple of weeks. Even *I* knew that, and many N4G-ers would profess that I am TEH MASSIVE ANTI-360 FANBOI!

Wait a second, people are mad that they have to pay 1200 MS points for a game that was advertised for 1200 MS points? WTF?

Instead of considering the few that get the game at 800 points lucky, everybody else think they are entitled. Typical....

1.5 - Have you all even played the game?
I disagree. This game comes with many, many levels, has achievements and has a true level editor that you can share. It's well worth the 1200 micropoints($15).

You know, tough, to be honest.

Nevermind the fact the 800 pricing may have been a mistake, how is it Microsoft's fault if you weren't there to take advantage of the discount price?

I didn't know it was 1200, for 800 i would've considered it... but over 800 the game really has to prove worth my time first.

4 - Dont think it'd be worth it...
I love lode runner...loved it on NES, played it relentlessly...but I learned a harsh lesson the other week...I paid 12 bucks for the Worms Online game on PSN, and I played it (religiously) for about a week and now i just dont see the value in it. It was fun, but it wasnt nearly as fun as Worms Armageddon on Dreamcast.

Another problem Worms has is that it's not fun in Single player or online. It's only fun when you're playing against someone in the same room as you so you can distract them and call them names.

7 - Both MS and Sony...
...want digital downloading to succeed for their platforms yet they seem to charge more than you'd expect for it.

It really makes a joke out of the hole DD thing when buying it on new on physical media is sometimes cheaper!

1200 and 1600 are the new price points for XBLA games, it sucks.

9.1 - You're right
for prices like 800/400 I went for many "impulse" buys, sometimes without even trying out the demo (on the account of friends' recommendations).

However, for 1200+ points, I really need to justify myself to buy the game. And actually I've not bought a single game at those prices.

It was announced the title was going to be 1200 points months ago. Still lucky to some people who were able to snag it at a lower price. Not like its any different from a sale at a store.

I said to myself; "That's a Lode of shi..."

No thanks, I think I'll blow my Lode elsewhere.
