Wii games take less time to develop.
They're usually less feature rich, lower poly counts, less physics, simple animations.
You don't need to worry about all the particle physics or complicated lighting.
Also the HD Dead Space had a full 5.1 Audio stage (it's up for Bafta for sound design) Its amazing - really atmospheric. Obviously you don't need to worry about stuff like that for a Wii.

Quick and cheap to develop. So the games don't have to sell as much either to make your money back.

Lol at tucker...you realize because of the lower poly counts it's more likely that they can put 5.1 surround right? Remember that the wii can use the same discs as the 360. Therefore if they want to they can put 5.1 easily...It just is up to the developers. They did it in Galaxy and MP3.

Here are the specs for the Wii:

Dolby Pro Logic II: "DPL II processes any high quality stereo signal source into five separate full frequency channels (left, center, right, left surround and right surround). Dolby Pro Logic II also decodes 5 channels from stereo signals encoded in traditional four-channel Dolby Surround."

Therefore 5.1 is possible.

I'm happy that you're showing support for the game but stating untruths hurt your credibility.

Erm... No.

The Wii only has Stereo output.
Therefore is only capable of Dolby Pro Logic II
So no Galaxy didn't do 5.1. Although it did have a fully orchestrated sound track which was awesome.

Decodes channels not 5 discreet channels.

EDIT: Ahh I see you edited your post.

By all means fill up your remaining disk space with 5 pseudo channels. I assume you aren't an audiophile if you are arguing Dolby Prologic versus Dolby Digital or DTS

EDIT2: It can make quite a difference a quick edit can't it? Almost looks like you know what you're talking about.

Re: Cheap to develop: that is the argument most Wii Fanboys use for low sales of titles like No More Heroes, Okami and Boom Blox.
So in essense I was writing in your defense.

It's okay, I guess you can't read. I gave you straight evidence. I lol at you. It's obviously not as good as the other consoles this gen, but it's still 5.1. Oh, miscommunication...I wasn't saying that it wasn't cheap to develop games, but you stated wrongly when you brought the audio into the picture. For people who have the wii, 5.1 is enough I bet...most don't go for the highest quality specs. That's why they went for the wii and not the other systems.

Congratulations BrotherNick you've taught me not to be so blasé about terminology.

I'll refer to Dolby Digital / DTS in future.

Now, that wikipedia has taught you what Dolby Prologic is are you interested in hearing what it sounds like?
I assume that because you are a Wii owner and once told me that the PS3 was expensive your budget won't stretch to a surround sound amp, and a 5.1 / 7.1

But just so you know (for when prices come down) HD and Dolby Digital are really cool.
When you do get round to experiencing Dolby Digital you won't be arguing the merits of Pro Logic. Trust me.

EDIT: And VoiceofFrustration yes I do sometimes trash the Wii, but I am still planning on buying one back for when the next Zelda title comes out. I might even get one sooner if Dead Space Wii turns out to be good.

Buy one then! The game seems to go in a new direction. Unfortunently I rented Umbrella Chronciles and didn't like it much.

They have eight to ten months. They better make it a FPS rather than a rail-shooter! Just imagine Dead Space multiplayer. A first-person shooter on the Wii with online. Not a rail-shooter. The only good rail-shooter is Sin & Punishment!!

Rail-shooters are annoying. Your character walks right into a zombie and you have to shoot it before it kills you. Would any of you walk right next to a zombie. It isn't fun, but makes it freakin' annoying. I was hoping it would be a port of the 360 and PS3 version!!

Sh1t! Why did they have to make a new Dead Space for Wii?
Couldn't they have ported the HD Dead Space?
That way I wouldn't have to buy this.

This game actually looks pretty good. This is the first game since I beat Mario Galaxy in 2007 that has made me want to buy my Wii back again.

Hopefully my father-in-law will be bored of Wii Sports by the time this comes out, and I can borrow the machine to beat this.

Really want a PS3 version of this. Loved the extra challenges the Dead Space trophies brought and collecting them all for the Platinum!

If it's a lightgun game it may be ill-suited for the ps3. The wii already does lightgun games right out of the box. It's best if they make a full sequel for the PS3 and 360 with all the features you want.

Wow, so it is an entirely new game built specifically for the Wii AND it has multiplayer.

That's great. So it won't get trashed for being a graphically downgraded port with tacked-on motion controls and it'll (hopefully) provide an actual deep multiplayer experience for a system that desperately needs one. Looks like I may have a Wii game, besides Brawl, that I can play with friends without passing the controller back and forth.

Jtucker you do understand that it going first person rail is not such a bad thing right?in the ign article they explain why they did this and they say that many things they couldnt put into the original Dead Space which they are going to put in this version.

the the idea for on-rails fits perfectly, that way the can push higher frames and polygon count, makes sense from a developers' point of view and besides what's wrong with rails if done right eg: HOD..."OVERKILL"

i find this pretty insulting.. its fine for house of the dead, because that is and always has been on rails.

but to announce a game that is a acclaimed fps, and then reveal the wii version will be on rails.. that sucks.

its like announcing street fighter 4 for the wii, only to announce later it will be turn-based combat.

Hey all. I started a little petition over at EA's Dead Space forum to voice my displeasure. I encourage all of you to do the same. The post I added with my petiton is below.

"I am creating this thread in hopes that someone at EA will get the hint that Wii owners do NOT want a 'on rails shooter' version of Dead Space. Just like we did not want a 'On Rails' version of Resident Evil, a Fighting version of Castlevania, or an adventure version of Soul Calibur.

A game like Dead Space would be very acceptable as either a FPS or a third person shooter. I speak for myself when I say that I would rather wait another two years for an actual game then to play another quick cash in. I know that I am not the only person who feels this way and others who agree with me can make your voices heard by signing this petition."
