I, for one, would definitely like to see Yakuza 3 sooner. However, a simultaneous release for a Yakuza series is asking too much. First we will have to wait for the Yakuza 3 spinoff.
I sincerely hope Sony would push for the game to be released in the US at around the same time. GTA just isnt enough for me.

You didn't like Yakuza 2? It was in my top 5 games of 2008. I can't wait for Yakuza 3, if it ever makes its way across the pacific.

I really really do hope they at least try to get this game to the west. I didn't get valkyria chronicles cus i knew i wouldn't have time to play but i'll probably pick it up this summer. I hope they don't let poor VC sales discourage them from sending it. This is easily one of the best looking games coming out of japan

Yakuza flopped in North America? Hardly. It may not have sold several million copies like a HALO or Gears of War but it DID receive a decent following over here. I, for one, loved the original Yakuza and Yakuza 2 even more. I seriously doubt that SEGA wouldn't release it over here since it wouldn't really cost that much money. Most of the money spent would be in basic localization. Translating the kanji and kana into English, leave out an English voice track, and sub the Japanese-spoken cut scenes. Then release it over here, there wouldn't be too much involved. I'm sure SEGA will bring it, we need only wait.

I honestly hope your right. I loved the Yakuza games, but I believe that Sega's becoming weary of their position in the North American sales, and if they don't think Yakuza 3 will do well, they may decide to not release it here.

The Yakuza series hardly sell in the US so I doubt the third one will come towards us anytime soon or at all. It's sad to see there games flop because most of the games that they make are good stuff. The Yakuza series at whole is just as great as Shenmue imo and Valkyria was a great SRPG.

It saddens me that the sales of Valkyria Chronicles is so low. It is one of the greatest games ever made in this generation, and yet not many people are willing to give it a try due to it being a strategy rpg.

I hope Sega is not discouraged by the sales and will keep pumping out quality exclusives for the ps3 like VC.

As for Yakuza 3, I am pretty sure that it will come to NA...so don't worry.

4.1 - I completely agree...
VC is a totally awesome game! I wish that third-party developers would learn that the situation isn't like it was last generation where there were enough ps2 in the world that they could just make a game and enough people would buy it. They shoulda had a more agressive add-campaign so people like my brother who loves srpgs but pays no attention to videogame news has never heard of this game and my telling him isn't sufficient, he needs mainstream confirmation.

4.2 - Agreed. It's a shame it's not getting the sales that it should.
Valkyria Chronicles is an awesome game.

IMO, gamers today have sh*t taste.

How many VC ads did you see on TV? I blame Sega marketing for its low sales. VC has received an absurd amount of universal acclaim, yet its sales do not reflect the quality game it is. People will not buy what they aren't aware of. Trophies may have helped too.

another part of the reason(in canada at least) was that you just couldnt find VC. took me 3 weeks after release, i saw a solitary copy siting in a box behind the counter at EBgames and i jumped at it. and i still dont see too many copies floating around.

6 - Even a 10yo can tell why they do not sell, because they focus on PS3
If they released their games on 360 too, they would have been filthy rich by now

But i hope they close down, considering they show zero support to xbox, and they will probably

Sega PS3 and Xbox 360 support is a joke in comparison to the Wii, why all those classic franchises were released on such a console I still do not know.

What makes you say that? These games are great but simply don't appeal to most American gamers. Do you really think these games would see great sales just because they're on the 360? I own all three of the games listed by the way.

7.1 - Sure, why not ?
360 has a far better game attach rate, and those games would fit great in its lineup

Especially Yakuza 3

But if they want to make sure they go backrupt, they can keep this stupid PS3 support

"360 has a far better game attach rate" + including failure systems = almost close to the ps3 attach rate (if its not worse) ,, software sells are proving it :)

If you've got a PS3 and haven't bought Valkyria Chronicles yet, then shame on you, the game deserves to be a huge success.

"Why do the good, quality games released by Sega never sell?"

Because sega doesnt advertise them. I did not see not one commercial about Valkyria Chronicles nor Yakuza 2. Not to mention they dont hype it on the internet were most hardcore gamers get their source of information. its all word of mouth.

I can't buy online right now(bad case of ID theft-I blame 360 fanboys(joking!))and can I find a copy of VC?NO can I hell. I played some at a mates and though I usually don't take to strat rpgs I found it different and deep in unusual ways.
And no-no ads either.
I'll be finding a way to get Yakuza3 though as it looks incredible and a step above it's earlier games(which i liked for their mad Jap take on the genre) but with the money spent on it I actually feel Sega and sony will push it in US/EU ths time like they(Sega) will with their big Wii games Madworld and The Conduit(which they won a bidding war to publish-something they surely wouldn't do just to leave it to rot promo less).
Sega are involved with some good stuff and why when people like Epic support 360 (US made) shouldn't Sega favour the Jap manufacturers who they've competed with and dealt with for years? MS fanboys need to get that loyslty can exist with no big cheques changing hands sometimes. Besides Yakuza 3 would sell practically nothing on 360 worlwide compared to what it would sell on PS3(in Japan and Europe alone).

@pwnsause and @Action Bastard
You guys are absolutely right. I don't understand why Sega refuses to advertise their games. To tell the truth, I didn't even see an ad for their newly released Sonic Unleashed which is what they really push. God, Yakuza is such a great series, and VC is still entertaining me three months later.

Alright guys I'm playing Yakuza and I love it, I've been late to the Yakuza series but come on I just havn't heard of it that much until Yakuza 3 came out.

Speaking of Valkyria Chronicles I played the demo and I just wasn't feeling it, I know everyone says it's a great game, it was just the whole setup ya know, or it could have just been a bad demo.

the demo isn't a very good barometer of the whole game as it's basic movements/tactics and the games strengths(apart from being stunning)lay in the actual individual qualities assigned to squad members-it gets deep how you deploy with their attributes-rent it if yo don't get it yet and I bet you will. Stunning and I can't wait til I can buy a copy!

13 - In the article it said the first two Yakuza flopped...
but it didn't flopped. Yakuza1 sold 740k while Yakuza2 sold 750k in Japan only

sure they're not million sellers but that numbers aren't flop.

http://www.vgchartz.com/gam...
http://www.vgchartz.com/gam...

don't know why there are no numbers for NA and others, maybe it's undertracked

now if the problem is that it won't sell outside Japan, maybe they should take advantage of PS3's no region lock by adding subtitles in the game. That will cost less so they won't have to dub it although this really won't happen.

But the thing is, Yakuza series is not a flop.

EDIT: I guess the article didn't say that Yakuza1 and 2 flopped... HEHE. But I won't worry cuz it will still go outside Japan. ^_^

13.1 - Hang on a sec.
You said the first two Yakuzas sold well... in Japan. I'm talking about North America. My whole point is that because Yakuza and Yakuza 2 sales in North America were lackluster Sega may never release Yakuza 3 over here. Also, Yakuza 2 was never localized with English voice actors. It was all in Japanese with English subtitles.

Valkryie Chronicles is the best RPG this gen and best Art Direction I ever saw. I love the Canas Style. If you don't have it buy it. Its one of the top games this gen.

I hope SEGA doesn't stop pumping top quality games because of sales. I am buying their games.

IMO Yazuka > GTA, espically GTA IV

PS. Right now I'm stuck on CHP 13 in VC :( STUPID TRENCHES!!!!

Hopefully it comes to NA.
The game looks awesome.
I like that they have a good balance of gameplay and story, something that's lacking in most games today.
