RPGfan : Square Enix Reveals New FFXIII Info

Chris Winkler writes "Square Enix has released some new tidbits of information regarding Final Fantasy XIII. The trailer, which the company has shown off in various lengths since the game's debut, depicts heroine Lightning entering a train carrying citizens set to be deported from the Cocoon. Among those convicts is Vanille, the red-haired girl set to become a member of Lightning's party. Snow, the other playable character featured prominently in various trailers, is the head of a resistance movement fighting against the theocratic government of the Cocoon. In their struggle against the government, the party will not only have to deal with normal soldiers, but also far more potent opposition including powerful officers, weapons and monsters."

SE is trying to build hype but they're doing it the wrong way. Closed theatre is the most retarded concept ever, you sell games by hyping through cutscenes, trailers, gameplay and commercials. Closed theatre only hypes up those fortunate enough to be there. To get massive sales you must advertise to the masses.

For me the real choice I have to make comes when the reviews come out. Well I don't care about the score it gets but which version is better, the 360 or PS3. I know the 360 is going to have at least 2 disks and this game started development on the PS3 then is being ported over to the 360. I'll probably go with the PS3 version but we'll see.

Aside from what you've already mentioned, like the 360 version being on multiple discs (which probably means resolution reduction, and thus inferior graphics, as is being done for Rage), and the PS3 being the lead development platform, you should also consider that Final Fantasy Versus 13 is being released as a PS3 exclusive. It would make sense to have both games on the same console.

Not to mention that there are rumors of save-game interaction between the two titles.

It would make sense to get it on the same console? Y? In case you can't find the other one and u wanna swap which one you're playing?
Also consider the fact that U won't be able to install it on the PS3 but U will be able to on the 360, making the multiple disc argument moot. Releasing it on more than one disc is giving them space so it won't necessarily have inferior graphics or anything for that matter, but the fact it's a port may result in that. The Save-game interaction won't happen either.

You cant install the game on ps3? why? That doesnt sound true. I recommend buying the game on ps3 because it has smaller console failure rate. It would suck if you are 50 hrs in to wait a month just to beat it.

I think sqaure enix know what they are doing...and they are doing it effectively.

When you marked a product you have got to think in stages. right now its stage "closed theater" which apperantly works very well. Obviously everyone feels teased by the little infos that are given which is exactly what they are trying to achieve.

gameplay will not be shown unless the demo is close to be released. Once the demo is released a new stage of marketing begins.

I guess after the demo stage they will start distributing more in depth info about the story of the game.

if you own both systems and choose to buy it for your 360 then your just stupid.... why the hell would you be paying your monthly live bill as your playing this non online game! What are you going to do, wait for your xbox live to run out before you buy the game so you dont feel like an idiot, or are you going to be playing gears and halo at the same time?
