Digi-Guys: PS3's Long-Awaited WarDevil 'Progressing to Plan' - This Year, Parent Company UTV Suggests Same

Over four years ago, back when fanboys were still dreaming about the "Xbox 2? and "Nintendo Revolution," WarDevil wowed with stunning trailers and screenshots supposedly demonstrating the power of next-gen. IGN's Hilary Goldstein proclaimed it "one of the most anticipated games of 2005."

Rest assured, you didn't miss WarDevil in 2005 - or since. Every so often, developer Digi-Guys has chimed in long enough to let the gaming community know that "it's still coming," dropped a new but very familiar-looking trailer, and then faded back into obscurity. This year is no different: we received such communication and trailer from Digi-Guys this morning, and you can view both after the jump.

But this year, an interview with UTV - the company that owns Digi-Guys and publisher Ignition Entertainment - suggests that we might finally see WarDevil in 2009.

Sony aren't publishing it either.

Anyway, have you noticed that Digi-guys have been much more talkative about the project after that recent 'fiasco' with an apparent ex-investor? I hope none of what he was saying is true, I was really looking forward to Wardevil.

ive been reading about this game from 2005, u should visit the game website 2 learn more.

there has been news of this game once in a while

a friend of mine who has also followed the developments of this game contacted digi-guys a week ago and received the following answer:

WarDevil is still in production and on schedule :)

I won't get too worked up about his game till actual game play is shown. Concept art and pre-rendered video will only get you so excited. If the game is releasing in 09, why haven't we seen more of it?

except a full techdemo of the engine (albiet older), 2 teaser trailers and 2 full length trailers, pleathora of screenshots, along with interviews from voice actors, and a basic knowledge of the story, gameplay mechanics and other information.

Yes the newest trailer is pre-renderd but it's still in game on the PC.

Maybe it's not a case of "there really isn't that much shown" but a case of I haven't done much effort to learn about it.

6 - From what I hear, the game has many reasons not to be shown
The first thing was it's NDA, you spoil that at your own risk of losing your contract and being sued.

Second of all, lawyers might have told them to not show anything because if they went to court, it might be used against them in one way or another or give the defense time to prepare something against them against that one developer who got fired and started the whole "vaporware" claim in the first place.

Sony stopped three or four games from being shown at TGS that were not known if I'm not mistaken, so Sony's being a little anal with their Exclusives... perhaps they're a little tired of MS taking them?

But not withstanding any of those supposed reasons, giving gamers a little more wouldn't hurt, DANGNABBIT!

9 - The thing that is bothering me this gen with games
we see something great... then it goes off the radar for farrrrrr too long!. This was one that wowed me before, but now Im very skepticle and worried about the finished product and how it will be. Because it fell off the map for far too long. Prototype, is another game that has gone quiet that I feel the same about as well. Great games with great ideas should be put in the spot light for a good amount of time. But when they go unheard of for quite some time, I get worried about the retail version that people will be buying... makes me still wish I did rentals instead of basing buys off of reviews/word of mouth basis!

their great games a few weeks or months apart for release. Otherwise, gamers won't have the money to spend for their games if it was released almost the same time. Then the haters will be saying the games flopped because it didn't x numbers on the first week.

This is the same response they gave like a week or two ago... why is this new? It's old news.

And the absolutely ridiculously cheap looking animated clip makes it all seem more and more like a cover for the fact that nothing on the game has been accomplished... I still hope though.

The time on this game has passed. There was a time when this game would have had an impact, it was 2008, The fact is, 2009 is the year of God of War 3, making Wardevil completely irrelevent and, I guarantee, we'll see God of War 3 released before we see Wardevil in a playable form.

There's too many PS3 exclusives to worry about a game that has little to no information or gameplay footage after so many years.

This game is a fraud straight up. No details on the story, gameplay mechanics, or anything new. Every time news from Digi-guys resurfaces it's always about what they are preparing to show. I could care less at this point as there are so many more interesting titles for ps3 this year to care about this fraud.

I have a good laugh over this game every time I see news about it.

I understand that it takes time to build an engine and a game, but what's the deal with teasing us with it waaaaay before a release? And then keep "teasing" us with the same trailer? I am amused, but not in a good way.
