This article is exactly right. Fighting over which is better is completely pointless.

Competition is a GOOD THING, especially in this industry. Look at all the wonderful things firmware updates have brought to our consoles over the last year alone - none of that would have happened if it wasn't for both sides bitterly fighting for every scrap of market share.

I can happily admit that the 360 is my console of choice. It is, in my opinion, the better console for me (I do actually own a PS3 as well, mind you), but that doesn't mean I dislike the PS3, I also own one of those because I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford one and I'm very aware that the 360 wouldn't be half as good a platform if it didn't have the PS3 to contend with. Thus, I appreciate the fact that Sony is still competitive and I hope both they and Microsoft continue to do so for generations to come.

because it really helps me see how sane I actually am. Who gets emotional over a gaming system and can call themselves sane? Who can cry when their consoles doesn't sell the most this month, or a game that was once only on console A is now on console A and B, and can call themselves sane?

I just dont get it and I never will. It wasn't like this in the golden days. But we didn't have internet either so I think that has a lot to do with it. Never really noticed die-hard, blood or glory fanboys till the internet. We just played games.

My friend had an SNES, I had a genesis. We got excited when the other had a new game because we could go over and play it. No bashing each other or the other console. Just fun all the way around. Walk to my house to play Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Walk to his house to play Streetfighter 2. Walk to my house to get some Multiplayer Sonic 3 on. Walk to his house to take turns at Super Mario World.

What happened to those days?

since where talking about what systems we own i have had a ps3 for a year now and i got a 360 yesterday should come in the post 2moro or 2day got the gears 1/2 and farcry 2 60 gig bundle in game for £185.89

I must admit, it is pretty funny to read how serious some of you take the console war. I always get a good laugh out of how sorry i feel for you, when the most important issue in your life is whether or not you made the right purchase on a console.

Also, Playstation 3 is by far the best console available on the market. To say other wise is ignorant. :)

i agree with the article and even though i own both systems. too me the 360 is the best imo. it's just offers more for me in every way. from cross-game invites to custom music. and i love the fact that everyone i play oline with has a mic and likes to comunnicate with people. but that just what i like.

It's an article with a fairly decent point.

I'm always amazed at how quickly some gamers jump to defend not only a console, but the corporations themselves and all the decisions they make, good or bad. When I see that sort of fanaticism, I think it's easy to understand how open-minded kids grow up to be closed-minded fools.

I have owned a PS3, which I sold long ago, but continue to experience over a friend's house along with the Wii. It's silly to limit yourself to one console, rather, the games on a single console. And if you can't play them, it's silly to bash.

i had a 360 from launch and would of not got a ps3,but the 160 gb ps3 come on sale with uncharted etc,having seen the killzone beta my mate was in i was sold,i must admit the hardware is flawless,its so quiet and the disc drive just shouts what a quality console it is,when i compare it to my 360 theres no competiton ps3 wins hands down.still keeping my 360 but as of late the ps3 has most of my gaming time.any one like myself that said ps3 was a waste of time should have a major re think as sony have some great games out.resistance 2,warhawk,are just so different to any think out there 32,60 player games are some think that live doesn,t offer.if sony keeps bringing out these type of online experiences they will be getting my money .

I like coming here for the news and the comments. What I don't like is how easy the site has made it for fanboys to silence anyone, no matter how rational, that disagrees with their words. Sure there are people that genuinely deserve the loss of bubbles and such, but true objectivity is punished more so than the irrationality.

We ALL love video games and that's why we're here. I do, of course, understand that some people want to justify their choices in console, but ignoring objectivity is mind boggling since, I assume, most of the people here are "adults" (at least in age, if not mentality).

Last gen I was a Sony die hard through and through. Then I saw Splinter Cell and decided it was a game I NEEDED to play. Because at the end of the day, I love games more than either console. I got the 360 first this time out (because of price) and have been enjoying it immensely. I then got the PS3 (once the price dropped) and saw that there weren't many games I wanted for it that were exclusive-I'm NOT buying a game for both consoles so my PS3 is reserved for exclusives.

Does this mean I love one of my kids more than the other? No, I love them both equally for different reasons. My 360 I love for it's achievements. I'm glad Sony decided to get into the ring with trophies, but I have nearly 2 years worth of gamerpoints on the 360 so I'm sticking with that score to improve. I love my 360 for XBOX live and all the features that go with it. I love that I can play with my friends in an easy to use party system, easily compare scores and such and I love the NXE. I also love exclusive DLC for games like GTA IV.

BUT, I love my PS3 because it's a powerhouse of tech. I LOVE my Bluray. I'm a movie fanatic with over 1000 standard DVDs, and now about 50 blurays. I love that I can watch my DivX movies. I love that most of the movies I watch, if I remove it, and put it in MONTHS later, it picks up where it left off. No DVD player I've ever had was that smart. AND I love the PS3 exclusives. 2 of the best games I've EVER played are on the PS3. Uncharted and Metal Gear Solid 4. I've replayed these games more than I have any game on the 360. It also made me a fan of Ratchet and Clank. A series I just couldn't get into on the PS2. And finally, I love my PS3 for the promise of the future: Heavy Rain, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2 and more (though I'm bummed that there won't be a next-gen Getaway).

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I guess I win because I own both.
