How to Identify an Xbox 360 with Jasper Chipset

The latest revision to the silicon inside the Xbox 360 is code-named "Jasper". It replaces the second generation "Falcon" chips that many credited with reducing the Red Ring of Death problem. No, a redesined 360 should be called 360 Fat. The problem is the case was poorly designed. The PS3 was designed to handle the heat it puts out which is why it doesn't have this problem. The 360 was most likely designed just for looks. They threw together a case and jammed the parts in. No simple redesign will fix it. A new case designed to get rid of the heat is needed.

Its sad that this is such a big deal. what happned to a system when people hesistate to buy a system because of waiting on a new chipset, and Im not talking just so you can have the newer cooler, but in the idea that you have a better chance of it not breaking because of reputation, sad...

so if I want to buy a console, I have to first check if it is a Jasper, Casper, Falcon or whatever chip is in it. Quite sad if you ask me.

I just want to buy a console, I don't give a damn about the chips, wires and what not.

You know whats sad? Sad that you pay $599 for a next gen console then wait for 2 years before any decent game comes out. Its sad company shows off, 20 titles at launch and many were cancelled and others turned out to be hoax. Whats sad is the console it more a movie player than games console.

ON TOPIC: If i dint hv 2 360s (2006 models), i'd go for the new one as well. Nice work MS on acknowleding and rectifying the problems as well as providing best gaming experience online and offline.

No offense buddy but Heavenly Sword was like 8 hours long, and a pretty average game at best. Resistance was ok but I hated it. Warhawk was DOWNGRADED from a full game to an online only game and it's still just a pretty good game. Ratchet and clank was the first game to really actually own on the PS3 and Uncharted was really good also, but also released last year sometime. In the 360's first two years their was

Bioshock
PGR 3 and 4
Lost Planet
Dead Rising
Halo 3
Mass Effect
Forza Motorsport
hell 2 ghost recons, FNR3, Oblivion, Crackdown, Viva Pinata, 3 call of duty's and so on...the 360 has been enjoying AWESOME games for years now.

Furthermore the 360 has 119 games rated 80% and higher and the PS3 has 68. I HIGHLY doubt the PS3 will double that total in the next year. That goes to show you the quality titles the 360 has received. He may be a total ******* with his comment but at least he isn't lying.

PS3 is not even a full two years old yet, and has some of the games that you've mentioned on your list, plus some great exclusives

Sak's comments smack of blatant fanboyism. And yours sound a bit misinformed.

Maybe it really is sony's non-existent advertising that has gamers still believing in that "little to no PS3 games" fud.

But please remove the blinders and see that both systems has some great games. And no matter how much you will it and slander the other system, it won't erase reality.

And please, no hard-nosed "facts" that 360 has 950974307 games rated over a zillion% to PS3's -4 games rated over blah %...

With the state of reviews these days that comment is full of fail. Heck, you see articles about BS reviews on N4G every other day.

And how did you even find the time to come up with those numbers with all of those 360 games you have to play anyways? ;)

The only thing stopping me was the shotty hardware. The games are great.

Hopefully this greatly reduces the chance of RROD. And the disk install feature should help reduce disk-scratching too.

When I get one, I may just get it at BestBuy and get their $50 2-year warranty.
