IGN: PlayStation 3: Home-Ward Bound

Five weeks -- for most of the world, that sounds like a lot of time. It's more than a month. It's ten Saturdays and Sundays. It's five Thursday night episodes of The Office. However, in PlayStation land, five weeks has a different connotation. Here, it means that Sony has 35 days to get PlayStation Home to the masses or default on its promise to get the social application out by the end of 2008.

I'm in the beta and had a blast meeting people this afternoon. It sucks just staying in your place but that's only because there's not much you can do in there. No TV, no music, only so much in the way of furniture.

BUT...hanging out in the courtyard or whatever it's called is sweet. But you really have to have a keyboard to keep up. Still, some people were launching warhawk and others were playing pool. I'm telling you, Home could be really special.

Just don't leave your character sitting in one spot for too long. otherwise someone will come along and "superman" you.

I just got in tonight it was funny how there was like 1 girl(could of been a dude in chicks avatar though) and dudes spammed her with hello and started dancing ...she ran out the theater with the quickness lmao.

6 - Just got in the beta
and I was super suprised. Giddy even! Not sure what is covered by the NDA but the only thing holding Home back is the content. More of that and it will be a hit. There hasn't been anything like it before and I, personally, think that it could really be a great thing. Not just for Sony or the PS3, but for gamers in general. Its a fun, novel experience that connects gamers in a more visceral way. I like it. I am there now and will continue to be when it goes live without a doubt.

You have to have your account to opt for promotinal emails from sony.. its right by where you put in your email(sign-in) i checked that box and got an invit the next day.. also got a killzone 2 beta invite the same day so im not making any promisses but worth a try.. home is awesome i can't wait till i can decorate my appt.. i know that sounds gay but i have so many ideas already

Best thing i read in the article was the idea (hint) about virtual chats with game producers and PR people in home. That sounds pretty interesting to me.

the biggest advances in the home service will come from 3rd party developers. i can name a couple of them. the guys at mm, insomniac,and zipper, i would like to see what the criterion team could come up with, to me they are the kings of the seamless intergradation of online and offline play.
there are some creative developers out there right now working on some cool features for home.

I mean, they're not taking in beta testers now to get feedback - they are taking in beta testers just to stress test the servers so that once they do open it up the servers won't just sh!t a brick.
