Now, with Resistance 2, Insomniac reaffirms why you bought a PS3 – it's a game of impressive depth and considered content, with A-grade presentation and production values and only a handful of quirks that prevent it from significantly pushing the genre forward and propelling the game straight to the top.

yep and ign have BY FAR been the most CONSISTENT even if they disagree with my own personal opinion on a few games. They are the game review leaders at the moment.

3.10 - PAID vs UNPAID?
Come on guys, you don't want to go there on this one.

IGN had the World Exclusive Review of Resistance 2 and things like these don't come for free... There's your answer for those wondering Why oh Why First Official Reviews are 99% much higher than the rest.

Strangely enough, this web and all its branches rated Resistance 2 far above the metascore in metacritic and even in N4G (Where PS3 metascores are usually way off high) So I wouldn't even mention the phrase "Being Paid" if I was a LBP fan commenting this review.

This is curious and shows that IGN is gaining some credibility by their international teams this keeps their site at least more credible than most. Gamespot can't take seriously, 1up too opinionated, and Giant bomb I just don't like their scoring system though their written and video reviews are quality. IGN is the best for reviews now. Gamespot what happened to you?

4 - Bu... Bu... EDGE gave this a 6! It must be bad!
All the other sites I have seen rate this have given it at least a 9. That EDGE review was preposterous in its pretension. Those are the same guys who gave Halo 3 a 10/10, and that game (by far) did not deserve that score.

I enjoyed Resistance: FOM and will be picking this up in the next few weeks. A lot of the reviews do point out that it does nothing new, but what it does is bigger and well refined, so I can see that some reviews might score it lower just because the FPS genre could do with some interesting new features, like KZ2 peek out of cover system.

I like the game. It's pretty damn good for a shooter on the PS3.

My major complaint is that there isn't two player split screen campaign. It was fun to play the game over and over again with my friends in the first one.

It's a good game. Not as good as GOW2, but pretty damn good. A 10, no, a 9.5, maybe.

8.3 - Well, Gears isn't worth a 10 either, so with that logic, R2 is just as good
Gears gets my nomination for second worst ending this year in a videogame (first place goes to Fallout 3).

BTW, R2 has a co-op campaign. It's just not the main story campaign, as Insomniac wanted to differentiate things this time around.

As far as Gears 2 vs Resistance 2, I was disappointed by both in they're own ways.

But Resistance 2's co-op mode keeps me coming back. It's like some sort of MMO type crack/addiction.

Played the beta to death. Came out at a time were my spare time is wearing thin. Will buy right after x-mas a very solid game for anyone who likes Fps.

10 - ign is simply on the road to redemption,
after some of the totally unfair and nitpicking reviews they gave a few PS3 exclusives last year (like Heavenly Sword and how they reviewed it against "the hype of the PS3," and "not justifying the price of the PS3." WTHell does that have to do with the quality of the game?).

my opinion is more important to me than any third party opinion.

but ign is at LEAST the most consistent when it comes to the standards they use to review games.

i often don't agree with them, but at least i'm able to somewhat track their trends. other sites just tend to arbitrarily hand out scores based on how they feel at the moment.
