I can't believe people don't notice the difference in game?!

There is far better texture and detail on everything. I noticed it immediately and was wowed. To me, this game is graphically one of the best I have seen this generation. This game should really be played to tell the difference, not from a video with compression artifacts.

This game is also a sequel on the same platform, so with some optimization you will see some differences. However, expecting leaps and bounds in graphical department is not going to happen. That is the side effect of having a system that is easy to program for. You get almost all the power immediately, but there aren't many chances to tweak for more improvement....

All that aside, it is gameplay, storyline, setting and finally graphics that set the game apart... not one or the other.

The real test of how little the difference between the two games graphics are was back a few months ago when someone posted sideby side comparison shots and got the labels for the images switched.

And...

Huge numbers of people went on and on about how amazing the improvements were and how they really liked the new look and were declaring triumph that it proved the Xbox had more power in it still.

And then it was pointed out they were accidentally hyping the Gears of War 1 screenshots...

Oh? I thought the point of a sequel was to improve on the past games.
Gameplay-New game modes better mechanics.
Graphics-a few touch-ups nothing too big.
Story-hell of a lot better

I didn't know that graphics made a game....

I can understand Denied and imo graphics is a big part of having the difference between an expansion like wotlk or a sequal that would be wow 2.

Gears of war 2 feels like a expansion to gears of war imo or it's walking on a very fine line between expansion and sequal. I read somewhere that Uncharted 2 will have the same graphics as original Uncharted and if that happens I will see it like an expansion too.

A true sequal to me is a total new experience but with the same characteristics as the first title. Killzone 2 is a great example of that or fable 2. Im afraid Gears of war 2 doesn't coop with time like other titles.

But Gears2 is still great. Don't get me wrong.

Lets not jump out of our seat here, yes the first game was a true next generation game at the time. Even though this wasn't mentioned much the first one had problems with its covering system. You press "A" for everything and the covering system was sticky. When you try to run you go into cover and when you want to run out of cover your roll onto more cover.

Now with PlayStation 3 titles running at 1080p at 60fps when Microsoft said was impossible it isn't as new anymore. You have to look at times at time frames to see what was considered amazing to compare it to now. I haven't picked up the new one because of that reason you're in cover like 90% of the time. So if the covering system isn't working properly why would I buy the sequel?

PS3 is more powerful, its just facts. And they did have UT3 on the PS3. UT3 looks the same as GOW 2.

Yeah, when I first saw the caves I was surprised. So much detail and the colors really stand out. It didn't give me a depressed feeling like the first game's caves did.
