Xbox 360 Premium with hard drive: $150. Feelin' lucky?

Arstechnica.com writes: "While the Xbox 360 Arcade model is only $200, it doesn't come with a hard drive. That may not bother casual gamers, but the heavy downloader or the Rock Band fiend won't be happy at all. Luckily, Tiger Direct has the deal for you: the refurbished Xbox 360 Premium system with the 20GB hard drive is now on sale for $150.

While Tiger Direct isn't our favorite retailer, and I can see how some people may be a little hesitant at buying a refurbished 360, you can't deny that price... it's a great deal. Be sure to read up on the information Tiger Direct provides about refurbished products to make sure you're comfortable, but I can see these moving very quickly.

It's great to see so many great deals on hardware out there right now; being a gamer on a budget is getting easier and easier. Should we use this as an excuse to say that Sony needs to lower the price on the PS3 again?

Yes, I think so."

1 - That's a heck of a deal...
Basically for the price of 2 games, you get an Xbox with a 20GB hard drive...

That'd be hard to pass up I think.

But it's used so no warranty and you know it will end up with the RROD. Does Tiger warranty it at least? I wouldn't recommend buying a used 360 at all.

Buying a brand new 360 is like playing Russian roulette with 3 chambers and one bullet, now buying a refurbished 360 is like...

Heck of a deal unless you get a dud.... I would never buy a refurbished 360. That's like buying a salvaged cards at a premium.

$200-300 for new Xbox, $150 for used. Between 75% to 50% off original cost.... When was the last time you saw a salvaged rebuilt car for 50% of the original cost?

4 - Awesome Deal
Hmmm, my 360 is dying and i wouldnt mind an hdmi port. But if its a refurb, i might as well just stick with my already dying 360 and hope it dies before my warranty expires.

That's an awesome deal. I almost feel like buying one for a friend that lives across the country just so that we can get together and game online and chat and stuff. Thanks for sharing.

...refurbished?I don't mean to spoil the party but I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU NOT TO BUY A REFURBISHED CONSOLE.Be it a 360/Ps3/Wii/whatever!

But but ITS CHEAP/sarcasm

It is sad when people only look at the price when making their decision to buy a product. Cheap does not mean quality.

In reading all the post leading up to yours....I do not see what sparked your comment. I could understand if we are talking about two different brands here....but we are talking about the same company, the same console...buying new versus buying refurbished.

Only a 90 day warranty? No HDMI? A refurb? And it's a reason why Sony should lower the PS3's price? Uh, ok...

"Should we use this as an excuse to say that Sony needs to lower the price on the PS3 again? Yes, I think so."

No. I think you should use an argument that has some weight behind it, such as comparative sales to its competition, the history of game console pricing, the economy, etc. You know, VALID arguments. (And yes, the PS3 could use a price drop to become more competitive.)

But using ONE SHADY retailer's REFURBISHED system price as a means for stoking the coals of fanboy flame wars? Pathetic. Amazon has a PS3 bundle deal for $200! Better go slam the Wii and 360 ASAP!

I urge people to take MAJOR caution when buying ANY kind of refurbished hardware, regardless of the console. It's just not a smart move, no matter how "great" the "deal" seems.

I wouldn't buy one new from a main stream retailer let alone this - its just a dodgy bit of kit and that's that

Its like reading up about which new HD tv to buy, and then choosing the one which breaks down all the time....

15 - Another reason why sony needs to drop their price?
Another reason why sony needs to drop their price?

MS can afford to have their prices so low because their cheapest unit has
-no harddrive
-no bluetooth
-no controllers with built in rechargeable batteries
-no built in WIFI
-no Blu Ray

and it it built cheaply and has the red ring epidemic.
Dear God Man... Sony has you paying for quality and that fair.
MS has something affordable for those who cant afford quality and that's good too.
