+100,000 invitations to Playstation Home today

Back on the official SCEE forums, Home community manager TedTheDog writes:

"Today, Friday 21st, over a hundred thousand invitations will be sent across the SCEE region and next Thursday the 27th another larger batch of invitations will be sent.

If you are lucky enough to get an invitation then please note there will be load test event on each of the two evenings.

For everyone else Open Beta will not be far behind."

finally got back in home yesterday after the update and they really updated everything such as the menu and a couple of more dance moves.. lol. i like that the bowling alley shows people bowling now. only thing i was mad about was that i had to re-create my character again. didn't take too long but still... all in all HOME is almost good to go. can't wait to see more ps3 users on when it's out.

y is it narow minded? I have no way of communicating with them! If the home space i'm in is shared with all of europe they'll probably be about 1 in 5 english speaking people. I can't speak a foreign language well apart from a small bit o french. Maybe I should have worded my first comment a bit better, but surely you can see where I'm coming from? I would expect that other european countries feel the same. It's just because the home space has a limited number of people in each main area so I would have less people I could actually chat to.

I'm happy talking to people from anywhere in the world as long as its possible for me to hold up a conversation with them.

100,000 is fairly hefty, with an even larger amount being invited next thursday - This is effectivley the start of the Open Beta they just don't want everyone downloading and accessing at the same time and crashing it.

Not really, the beta is still fully in a closed state. Open doesnt mean by invite only. They're releasing X number of invites so they can test X number of servers for load testing. The release of the Open Beta (PSN download for everyone) will be in direct relation with the load test results.

Why do people always act like there is some conspiracy against the PS3? That is so silly. Reviewers and game journalists give their honest opinion--sometimes it will be positive and sometimes it will be negative. I own both consoles and there are times that games or services for either console get a review that I don't agree with, but I don't see any kind of universal bias towards any console. Everybody has their own preferences, that is all.

NXE is really good. If you guys had Xbox 360s you might know that.

MS ripped off Nintendo Miis? Puhleese! Nintendo didn't invent avatars at all. Besides the fact that Miis look like crap--they don't even have hands or feet and their bodies are generic round bubbles and their faces are expressionless. They are nothing alike. If the 360 avatars are ripoffs of the Miis so are Home's avatars.

BTW, you don't pay anything to get NXE so you guys are full of it. Anybody with an Xbox 360 and an internet connection gets Xbox LIVE silver for FREE, which allows you to get NXE and use most of its features. It's true that you have to pay like 3 or 4 dollars a month to use the Netflix feature and for playing online, but then again Xbox LIVE is still a much richer and full-featured service than the PSN so it's well worth it.
