Bungie Acknowledges Halo 3 NXE Install Issues

Gamers who have downloaded the NXE have noticed that when they install Halo 3, the game actually runs slower than it does when ran straight from the disc. While most other developers would try to sidestep the issue, Bungie decided to address the matter head on and explain to their fans exactly why the game runs slower when installed.

1.3 - Why is it a good thing it's optional.
Developer after developer has complained that the 360 should have had a standard harddrive from the start and it's really a no brainer. Whether developers use the harddrive or not, it certainly doesn't hurt to have it as an option.
Even on the PS3, developers have shown they don't need the harddrive. Just look at COD4 or Uncharted. Put still, it's nice that it's there for developers that can make use of it.

You get much faster load times in most games and the console is dead quiet.

1.5 - darkride66 , Uncharted used the hard drive like crazy
It used it well though and got rid of loading times besides the initial start.

Wow the flagship title and company of MS wasnt prepped Im suprised to be honest, I would think them being so close they would have had a quick little patch to come out and make us all happy campers.

2.1 - How?
Bungie is the one who designed the game and they aren't with Microsoft anymore. The only thing Microsoft owns is the Halo franchise. If anything it's Bungie who should be doing something, not Microsoft. But their as arrogant as ever though so I doubt something will be done anytime soon without money involved.

2.2 - Bungie made the software
And it ran perfectly fine on the firmware and hardware. Now that Microsoft has changed the firmware and negatively affected the title, it is Microsoft's responsibility to fix that problem.

Bungie doesn't write the 360 firmware; Microsoft does.

4 - Not to hate on the 360 but....
NXE seems to be broken. Theirs tons of people that say their 360 got the RROD from it. I'm pretty sure most of them are telling the truth. My friend just called me up and told me his 360 just died.

I'll tell you that my 360's working fine. I used a "leaked NXE". Not banned, not RRoD'ed. Take some solace at least.

So Gears of War 2 is (still) having server issues, XBL is having issues, Sony pulled a huge chunk of movies from the NXE Netflix service, the NXE is causing all sorts of hardware failures, and now Microsoft's flagship title plays WORSE with the new update.

360 owners are on hard times. I hope M$ can resolve these issues quickly.

7 - LOL... you'd think that Halo 3 would have been one of the first games tested with NXE installs....
That's just hard to believe that Halo 3 of all 360 games would have this issue. You would think that Microsoft would have worked with Bungie to make sure that anything like this was patched before the NXE release.

Ohwell... Yet another case of Microsoft jumping the gun and releasing a half-baked update (trying to get in before Home hits).

8 - is it that big of a deal?
its not like you HAVE to do it. its optional. if it doesn't benefit to use it for a particular game, don't use the feature. its not like anything was even said about performance increase on all games

It´s big deal to PS3 fanbois. But u can´t blame them, because when it comes to installing games, these stars don´t know what optional means.

bungie is one the very high respectable developer in my list. I don't like halo series but the amount of support bungie offers to their customer is unmatchable.
