Okami not a complete failure on Wii

Even though Okami is considered many to be one of the better games on the PS2, the title was considered to be a failure as far as sales go. In spite of the poor sales, Capcom decided to give the title new life on Wii. Most believed that the same situation with sales on the PS2 would happen again on the Wii, but the latest sales figures from Capcom might indicate otherwise...

Last I heard, Okami sold roughly the same amount on the Wii than it did on the PS2, when it had 4 or 5 times the playerbase the Wii had at the time. This is great news. Not bad for a port of a last-gen game.

Also, Okami Wii is an awesome game. If you don't have it, make sure you have it soon.

edit: Sales have slowed down it seems, but it looks like it managed to pass the PS2's sales.

Still, it didn't sell enough to get a sequel I bet. But I'm quite satisfied with the overall game. It's actually my favorite game of all time.

Anyone who loves the Zelda games will be blown away by Okami. Okami is actually more accessible as well. Anyway if you have the ability, get it on PS2. The controls are wayyy better, although the Wii does look a bit better (more defined colors and a bit sharper look).

1.2 - Well Colver, the games dev, does not exist anymore. I think most of them went over to Platinum Games at Sega. And Capcom siad that Clover is really the only studio that could do a proper sequel.
It's too bad really, Okami(on PS2) is one of my all time favorite games. The idea of not getting a sequel still makes me a little sad.

Okami is a good game in all rights. My wife bought it for her Wii and she loves it. She's 60 hours in now trying to complete the bead quests. I also have it on my PS2, and I have still yet to finish it, but it's a great game. The Wii version got at least one thing right; it can play in progressive scan which eliminates the blurry visuals when played on an HDTV. I wish that Clover had included at least a widescreen resolution so I could at least see it in said resolution. Not even progressive scan but widescreen like Final Fantasy XII or Yakuza.

Ultimately, Okami is a great and long game that any core gamer should experience. I bought the original copy for my PS2 and I'm proud to own it. Especially since it's getting harder and harder to find in game shops.

I don't know about the game, since I snoozed off on the introduction. It took like 20-30 minutes just to listen to the memmmememe sounds and button pushing to get through a story that could have been told in 2 minutes via animation. Once you start the game (mind you I turned it off after 2 minutes into the actual gameplay) you still get more of this memememme sounds and story. I want to start the game damn!t, just tell the story as you go along, but don't force me to wait in anticipation... after a while your interest dies.

The game might have been great, but I wouldn't know since I didn't even get that far to play long enough.

5 - Too bad
Capcom closed down Clover Studios.

One game I would kill for is a sequel to Okami.

I said this in another topic, but when Clover was dissolved, all of its intellectual properties defaulted to Capcom. If it wanted, Capcom could make Okami 2.

5.2 - True, Capcom could make it
but would it be as good as if Clover made it?

As good as the original? Probably not. But then again, few sequels are ever as good as the originals and Capcom's not exactly known for consistence in the quality of its franchise entries.

Personally, even if the chance was only 1% that an Okami 2 would be as good as the first, I'd hope for them to take it.

Really good game but it's really expensive to buy brand new on the PS2. Is the Wii version better or as good as the PS2 version? Really interested in purchasing it but don't want to buy it and the Wii controls hinder the enjoyment.

it's a good game on either system , but I actually prefer playing with the Wii mote but the dualshock works just as good...

put it this way RE4 was good on the PS2 , but the Wii controlls just made the game more immersive

If you do buy it, whatever you do, DONT BUY THE DODGE TECHNIQUE. The only flaw in the wii controls IMO. It uses the nunchuk's gyroscope and it simply doesnt work. Dodging isnt really necessary anyways

I agree that the dodge technique doesn't work that great. Why not buy it though? It's not expensive :P. The thing is, the dodge technique does work, but to use it, you have to have your arm out straight and use very exaggerated movements. So it doesn't work *well*.

Always good to see a game like Okami succeed when given another chance. It is one of the most original games I have ever played.

1) Nobody wants to be a dog.

2) Why are we talking about an old game that nobody bought?

1) Nobody wants to talk to you

2) Because its an Okami article. People who have played this game know that it is just as good as any other game people discuss alot.

i'm about 15 hours in on this game and its good, too bad GH WORLD TOUR came out and i kinda put it down.. but yeah the first BIT of the game took me more then 12 hours... thats impressive..

and it does have a ZELDA feel to it, looks pretty and the story is awsome..

I love how we have to use the brush technique and this game looks damn pretty.. i'm glad it came to the wii and i was able to pick it up.. USED yes but i was able to pick it up. traded in my GOD OF WAR PSP game for it.. best trade i ever made.. GOD OF WAR was awsome but short.. i spent more time on OKAMI then GoW, and i did the trials too..

OKAMI is an awsome game.. not my all time fave but totally AWSOME
