Xbox New Experience To Boost Sales Before Christmas?

Microsoft's gaming console, the Xbox 360, is up for updates. The gamins star "made" an appearance at the Tokyo Game Show. Microsoft officials delivered a keynote speech, in which they announced that the software of the console would undergo a series of cardinal changes. The modifications would enhance the gaming experience, the realistic touch and will enable users to navigate more easily through the console's features. To denote the new characteristics, the new Xbox 360 environment was named New Xbox Experience.

Typical anti-PS3 article title of the day: Home Very Unlikely To Affect PS3 Holiday Sales Numbers?

Typical 360 a$$-Kissing article title of the day: Xbox New Experience To Boost Sales Before Christmas?

I just love how these articles just "naturally" tend to be more voracious when it comes to anything related to the 360.

I agree, people will buy a console based on the games available. NOT the interface that it has.

Stop being so fake....on topic...Like sonarus says..this is as absurd as thinking home will be a system seller. Only games sell consoles...not extra functions on consoles...see ps3.

well it depends of the marketing that Microsoft would do. After the update came out microsoft can start a huge marketing campaign, they know how to do it, maybe we can watch dozens of NXE commercials on tv, showing the avatars and the stuff they can do and maybe some stuff with NETFLIX, that will catch some serious casual buyers and yes will push a lot of xbox 360's this holidays

I don't think the NXE will appeal to people as much as the price will. The price will sell a hell of a lot more then the NXE but in the end Microsoft will claim it was a little of both that sold so many this Holiday season.

Hmm... shoulda called this...

N4G to stop allowing story titles that are just questions??

Seriously, I thought this was NEWS for gamers, not random blogs/editorials/opinion pieces.

And to answer the question, most certainly no.

odd thing is when you submit a story your first time you gotta take a little quiz that has answers leading you to believe that blogs/forum posts aren't news worthy and shouldn't be posted or approved

yet on a daily basis we see more and more crap, i think there needs to be a more active set of mods or something, or at least some sort of cred before you can approve a story

9 - You gotta believe there are Xbox 360 owners out there that purchased the Console
because of "Xbox Live" besides the games like halo and others pushing the network community itself.

MS knows XBL is one of their major selling points and always has been because there has been no other functional network till PSN came about on consoles.

I don't think MS ever really Marketed XBL as, but now with competition they will have to stress it's new capabilities to distinguish themselves from the competition. So I'm guessing they will market NXE. Whether someone buys the 360 because of is left to be seen.

it will be marketed showing off things like netflix and avatars and people could potentially get itnerested

the uninformed could be like "hey that looks really cool" and they go buy it

the idea that the update could influence people to buy it is not far fetched, bank on the fact that as soon as the new dash rolls out you'll see it in ads everywhere and it will be fresh in people's minds when they go holiday shopping

it is no coincidence that the update is coming right before thanksgiving/black friday

Not as much as Home or the Mii's will do or have done for their respective consoles.

13 - I don't
think it will boost sales, that's the job of Gears of War 2 and the new price cut.

But Who know's, MS can make a SECOND COMING out of anything

The only way anything like NXE or Home is going to spur sales of their respective consoles is through a ton of hype and word of mouth(esp. concerning their ease of use and fun). And there is a ton of hype already.
