VG247 write: According to this X3F story, Microsoft's NXE announcement from Tokyo this morning was a note that Avatar customization requires 256Mb of storage.

yea this sounds like a bad thing, but now that i remember , i dont think anyone that plays on live has a 360 core. you guys forget that the core was made for people that dont have dsl or cant afford to pay for live.

Playing a 360 without Live is stupid.The only game I ever could keep playing offline was Oblivion.But as they as they dangled that DLC in front of me I knew I would need a hard drive and a truck load of Microsoft points

Why do people keep complaining about the lack of hard drive issue? It's stupid!

The Xbox 360 Arcade can do almost everything the Wii can (except for the wifi) do at a lower price and exceed it from a hardware point. You get some free arcade games to get you started and if you needed a hard drive, it is a $100 away! Yes it is expensive, but there is an upgrade path. Is there much of an upgrade path on the Wii?

Yes, you still have to buy Live membership, but you know what Live is a better service. If you dont' use it, you dont' hvae to pay for it.

So depending on your need the 360 Arcade is a damn good proposition.

Explaination: The Arcade SKU comes with a 256MB memory card so no issue. Existing CORE owners can get a cheap 256MB card of get an HDD if they want to use this feautre.

Wow, dude you dont know the ins and outs of millions of Core owners buying reasons and shouldn't pretend to. Perhaps some Core buyers (especially parents) bought it purely because it's the cheapest priced (not everyone has disposable £) and more importantly they're not informed of the potential features they lose by opting for that SKU.

People buy X for a host of different reasons, many of which arent part of your A and B.

this is bad for the core and arcade users. yeah arcade comes with 256 mb, so you basically mean that I can either have a LIVE Experience OR live-arcade games/some downloads? But not both?

What about future upgrade of the Live Experience version? file size only increases not decreases. how can i upgrade in the future when 256MB already used up? free live-games in arcade bundle? and where should i store those again??

Wait. The article says that it requires a 256 MB memory card, but it doesn't say that it uses 256 MB. I have 12 gig free on my Premium 360, so it really isn't an issue for me.

Honestly, though, I'm not really looking all that forward to this update.

Although CORE has 256MB memory but the users can't save game progress now....lol.

Time and time again, M$ screwed the users. Really pity those un-informed buyers. Many ppl already could read M$ like a book, M$ don't have a clear direction what they want to do and they keep deceiving the buyers.

First the RROD, then the SKU without HDD and now avatar needs 256MB memory. I'm sure there are more bad news to come for CORE users.

@ GiantEnemyCrab - It's not about the internal memory but the way the SKU is sold and communicate to the users. At least, SONY and Nintendo are upfront with the buyers with the price and they include everything the users need out-of-the-box.

Moral of the story is "Pay for a better console and only cry once. Pay for a cheap console and cry many times." It's a fair world afterall....heh.
