First Uncharted Movie Details

Kotaku writes: "In case you missed it, our own Mr. Hollywood, John Gaudiosi, ran an excellent feature this morning on the Avrads, and their plans to start making video game movies that don't suck. Avrad gives the first details on the Uncharted movie project, which until now had only been hinted at.

When it comes to the big screen adventure, Arad said the plan is to mix things up a little bit. In the game, the action moves very quickly to the island, but the film will open things up a bit and add some depth before the island adventure.

So, more talking, more sexual tension, less gunplay. Avrad also stresses that Nathan Drake is not just another Indiana Jones clone, saying "Indiana Jones was always a good guy and he relentlessly did the right thing. Drake is a guy who's being hauled over to virtue throughout the game"."

Only Metal Gear Solid 4 has shown itself to best Uncharted in the graphics department. In less than a year of the PS3's existence it became the graphics king in one fell swoop.

The voice over acting is great with just the right touch of humor. Never has something as simple as someone whacking their head on a tunnel entrance been so hilarious. This game is a great example why ND should have been given the Bond license.

Sounds lame. I just know they'll get someone completly opposite from Nathan Drake to play him too. Wait and see. As in all Hollywood adaptations they get the biggest contrasting difference to play the source material. Always.

I bet Keanu Reeves or Justin Timberlake will star as Drake, thats how lame Hollywood is these days.

Remember when the did actual casting by design?

Remember Dolph as HE-MAN? WOW! That was a good match. Remember dolph as the Punisher? That was a good match. Remember Van Dam as Guile? Not so goodd. the list continues onnward too.

Wwhat's scarier than all this above though is this; Uncharted isn't even 1 year old yet and there is already a movie being penned by Hollywood. That's scary. The well has run dry and desperation is all that can be wenched up out of it now.

I agree with you Silogon, times must be hard over in Holywood when they are thinking of making movies from games thats fresh from the pantry. What next, LBP the adventures of teddy ruxspin or Viva Pinata : the island of doctor marau 2?

2.4 - Have you guys ever watched Burn Notice?
The guy in that show is a little bit drier than Nathan is, but I think he could pull it off if he can change that. In fact the relationship the two male characters have in Burn Notice is the exact same one found in Uncharted.

Hes a little old for the part don't ya think?

They should get people you never heard of, that way the focus is more on the character rather than the actor.

Nah, John Brotherton

http://a.abc.com/daytime/on...

He's a brillaint actor, along the lines of Trevor St. John but not as skilled. He's still a great actor and would be perfect for the role.

God...WHY????

WHY?

Why would you turn THIS game into a movie?

Uncharted is a fantastic, cinematic, block buster game. It did an excellent job telling the narrative and keeping a movie-like feel along side brilliant gameplay. WHY does there need to be a movie version? It's redundant.

Make a movie about a game that would benefit from a cinematic rendition. Uncharted is already its own cinematic rendition.

Also...Hollywood almost always makes woefully SH*TE game-movies. I love Uncharted, but honestly, a movie of it will be average at best, and more likely just plain bad.

Leave it alone I say.

Well if ND get any say in it they may choose Johnny Knoxville since he was the base for the charactor any way.

"Following some of these guidelines will help make a better game, Lemarchand said. "Twenty million dollars" and "three years" of development don't hurt either. Naughty Dog is a company very interested in making games relatable, therefore it drew a lot of inspirations from everything from comic books to movies. Lemarchand said some of Naughty Dogs inspiration came from "Doc Savage," "The Adventures of Tintin," and "Indiana Jones." In addition to having a unified reference to look at as a team, all of these inspirations shared a certain "lightness of tone," Lemarchand exclaimed that nowadays "games are a little bit too emo.""

Drake is based off of...Johnny Knoxville

"But cool and realistic animations hardly mean a thing without solid character designs. Early Uncharted concept footage showed Naughty Dog's desire to base the look of Nathan Drake off of real life actor Johnny Knoxville. Lemarchand said that Knoxville has a certain "coolness and goodness" to him, and that is something Naughty Dog wanted to capture with Nathan Drake."

It will be garbage like every other game to movie Hollywood adaption.
Uncharted is a good game but less face it theres not a lot of depth to the story or characters... thats why its a game not a movie.
Hollywood sucks balls.

What's the odds of actually getting Emily Rose, the voice of Elena Fisher, to play the role in the movie then? It's not like the girl is bad looking at all,
