I am not in a piss off fanboys mood, but... The PS3 is still at #6. And the Core is at #25.

It's still pretty bad on Amazon.com.

The reality is cheaper prices are targeted at casual purchasers. Those people are more likely to buy from walmart, gamestop, target e.t.c. so its not surprising to see minimal sales impact on amazon.com.

I still question how powerful the price cut will be. They were always cheaper than the PS3 but yet PS3 was outselling them. So is price the only factor? I think interest in the 360 has declined...microsoft has to fix that

This pricecut is not having the intended affect. All of the 360 SKUs are still wobbling around 25th and 26th place. It's better than #300 or so where they were, but everytime the PS3 did a pricecut, it went to #1 for at least a day or so. Meanwhile, the PS3 is selling steadily even above the Wii at this point according to amazon.

It's either that nobody knows about this pricecut or not enough people care.

I still think, overall, the 360 will show good sales numbers for this month---but it won't be the beatdown uberalles that people like to say it will.

The real test will be from Nov 7th when Gears 2 is released. If Gears 2 + $199 core doesn't cause major movement (more than Gears 2 alone), then the price cut can be considered a failure.

Another wild-card is Left 4 Dead. I think this game is this year's sleeper. I can see groups of fence sitters buying in at $199 just for this multiplayer. It's definitely a gamble for MS. Could strike gold, could bust.

One thing in Sony's favor, all the big '08 movies are releasing on Bluray, including Iron Man, Hulk, Dark Knight, and game movies Dead Space and Resident Evil: Degeneration before Christmas. That ought to keep the PS3's overall value on people's minds.

360 is only doing good because of the price cut. Its bound to hit its limit soon. PS3 is now twice the price of the 360, the Wii is a middleman. I don't even know if the Wii has anything left in terms of big titles. 360 has all of its best games out..they only have Gears 2 and 2 JRPGs? PS3 still has a lot of big tittles to come.

Don't forget about Fable II and Left 4 Dead. For 1stQ '09, Resident Evil coming to Xbox is pretty big. It'll be an even bigger deal if it ousells the PS3 version. But, for me, Wipeout HD should be out, all PS3 games should be supporting trophies, so unless there's a new quiet, Bluray 360 SKU, if it's not exclusive, I'm doin' PS3.

This is exactly why I dont really post on this site as much. Love him or hate him, he said an extremely logical comment. While we know you can take a ps3, put a larger hd, install linux, stream files from your pc to the system via ps3 the greater good fo the public do not know this. Not because their ignorant, simply because they're not caught up in gaming as we are.

Again, money is always a huge concern for most consumers. When the AVERAGE consumer looks at a game for ps3 and 360 and sees the 360 $200 cheaper, they will select the 360. Again this is the AVERAGE consumer. The ps3 is by far the better value IMO however most ppl might not need an HD, heck they might never even connect the system to the internet.

Ppl on this website have to stop with this fanboy nonsense because its really ruining the integrity of this website.

Wii? Seriously? have you even see any Wii with a HDD? it's a fact that without HDD aka. the arcade is only half a 360 or maybe 3/4 of it. M$ and 360 fans are bragging the hell out of XBL and M$ always talk about all those features, the XBLA games, DLCs and everything. but how the hell can anybody without the HDD will get to fully enjoy those things? they can't even enjoy the free demos, let alone DLCs be it exclusives or not!

btw, I'm in no way downplaying the 360 doing the price cut and seriously thinking that 360 will top PS3 in sales for September. the console war is getting more and more interesting this way!
