A demo for RE5 would have been nice.

Transformers, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and The Dark Knight are all coming to blu-ray this year...

Thank god for my PS3.

Like Chris, I like my PS3 and it's Blu-ray functions, that's why I bought it. HD movies are great. I already have Transformers on HD-DvD though, will it look better if I get it on Blu-ray?

I think its about the same Montre. The only difference is that those who missed out the first time will pick up the Blu Ray

2.5 - So are blu-ray movies worth buying?
I have a PS3, but I never saw the appeal in paying more for better quality video. Is blu-ray quality worth extra money?

@RebornSpy

If you have the TV for it, you bet!

Not really. Its more of a luxury. No real reason to go Blu besides having too much money in your pocket

Actually.. my cousin and I were walking through Best Buy a few weeks ago and they had Die Hard 4 on Blu-Ray on a 1080p television and we both froze like "What the hell?". It looks literally like real life in a square in front of you. I have a PS3 but I don't have an HDTV but let me tell you.. if you have the TV for it, it is the same as the difference between VHS and DVD. (I heard someone describe it that way before and I thought it was BS until I saw it myself) If you have a chance, go check it out.. You'll see what I mean.

If you have the tv and money, then blu ray is quite the step up. If you really like the movie you're buying, then that's another huge reason to get blu ray. I buy my favorite movies on blu and my "pretty good" movies on DVD.

Montrealien: The Blu-ray and HD DVD of Transformers will look identical. If you have a receiver that can decode either PCM or Dolby TrueHD lossles audio, the Blu-ray will sound a hair better (ie fuller and deeper) than the HD DVD's lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 mix (which is still fantastic).

Yeah, that's what I though.

I don't have many HD-DVDs only the Matrix Trilogy, the Bourne Trilogy, Tranformers and King Kong and I got my HD-DvD player add-on for 30$ so I can't really complain. All the rest will be Blu-Ray from now on. I'm so happy that stupid format war is over.

thx for the reply

Yeah, the format war was aggravating. Everyone was posting about it. Most of N4G's submissions were format war based for so long. Just happy it finally ended. Took forever though.

I feel bad for Toshiba. They just wanted a little spotlight after so many years of being a follower.Still, this is business so things like that happen.

Unfortunately,Sega has been punished too much for this kind of stuff.

One thing I have learned is, everyone thinks they have the best product. So they are going to defend it to the end, as Toshiba did.

Remember Sony with BetaMax? The defended that one, until it died off.

Sony has been trying to make the world follow their proprietary formats for forever and this is their first successful one. About time.

5.2 - well beta max was better than VHS
LoL every tech geeks will tell you that. but it was too pricey. and VHS got support from porn industries. At that time internet wasnt so speedy. so VHS was the only source of porn lolz.
