I'm the same. I'll wait on some PES reviews. While Fifa has always had the better visuals (or at least in recent years) and PES 08 was terrible I've still always preferred it's gameplay.

Guess it boils down to what my mates buy to.

I'm torn on which to get also. I think which one my mates get will affect me also.

I got PES last year, but the presentation of the offline (the stuttering gameplay) and the complete and utter disgrace which they tried to call online play really left a bad taste with me. I traded it in and got Fifa which I have to say wasn't half bad! In fact, I've put many hours into it and I feel as it's something you can really trust to do what it's supposed to. Never had any problems and don't expect to.

I'm certainly leaning towards Fifa, even before this review, simply because of how bad I felt towards PES last year. I don't think I could buy PES on launch day again without a mass of good reviews for the offline and online part of things.

Easy choice for me. FIFA. I never got into any of the pes games, I tried the O8 demo but it just didn't seem right to me.

PES 08 with its crap online was still better than fifa. If PES can fix their online issues then thats what i will be buying.

Fifa has improved a lot but on the core gameplay front it still isn't PES

3 - Being a 'PES' fanboy from the beginning..i incline myself
EA Sports have done an extraordinary job on FIFA09..it is time i give up on PES and move on with this glorious football game.

I guess EA did a load of improving on the game this year, but you guys must wait to see about PES first before moving over to FIFA. When does PES come out anyway? I'm pretty sure in America it will be a while, but I don't play Soccer games anyway. I played the demo of 2008 FIFA and it was OK, but I would have preferred a full game instead of playing kick ball with Ronaldo.

I will wait on a demo.

They can add all these features which no one will use, but if they still fail to deliver on the core gameplay and still use a shooting system which feels fake and pre-set, as well as having goalies being able to make unrealistic saves.

I won't buy.

frandy is an xbox fanboy, every time you see him in ps3 news or whatever related to ps3 he just bash it, no matter if it good nor it's bad.

btw I believe he SHlT at Pes that why every time he post a comment is saying pes suck for some reason,

anyway I bet with 100 buck this guy I can cream him in fifa anytime I want, wait till october, I will cream him but wait only if I can handle the gameplay, cause I just can't seem to get into fifa since I left it and join pes since pes4, but I will give it a try and get used to it btw who ever play as semi-pro is a noob

but it does make sense you know. konami, japanese, pes, ps3, hardcore gameplay, dedicated fanbase as opposed to ea, microsoft , u.s, shallow gameplay, mainstream audience etc.

well, as i said in the open zone;
ea is to the gaming industry, what microsoft is to the pc industry and what the u.s is to the world.

Sweet! This is the only reviewer I actually trust with my money, so this is fantastic news. Think about it. If Pro Evo is crap, we still get an awesome game of FIFA this year. If Pro Evo is better than FIFA, then it will be unbelievably good. We can't lose.

you must be kidding or are you being sarcasm cause fifa is only better at pes is the graphic not gameplay, even pes08 gameplay still better than fifa08 but if fifa 09 have pes gameplay i say goodbye pes. but you know what, fifa still haven't reach to pes level of gameplay just yet cause they still remain unrealistic, especially with the goal keeper, and playing a football game is all about gameplay wise

no im not joking,and dont think im a fifa fan boi as well,in fact it used to be the other way around,pro was all i used to play till i played fifa 08,i admit pes 08 gameplay is better than fifa 08 but every other thing is better than pro,like i said im still gonna play both pes 09 and fifa 09 before i choose which one il stick to,but i see my self choosing fifa 09 cuz of graphics,skills and ball control.

Yeah pes > fifa until 2007 included

But fifa 08 > pes 2008, in everything including gameplay. I used to be a PES fan but seriously, they're not the best anymore, they chose to go too much arcadey for their own good and their online sucks really bad too compared to Fifa 08 5v5 and Fifa 09 10v10. Gfx suck too on PES, but that was always true so...

This year it SEEMS that Fifa 09 will be the best football game again.

Next year though, when Seabass has more time to work on a next gen PES, it could change again.

Still, I think I'll buy both this year.

i dont know why people give PES the gameplay award
cuz i found it to be very arcadey.
i liked the winning eleven series a lot
but Fifa games were always just more fun
especially for beginners and friends of mine
