FF Versus XIII to be more like a traditional FF game

This news makes me VERY happy and I might forgive SE now. I have boycotted all of their products due to selling out and taking out console specific goodies that could have been for the PS3 in FFXIII. They pissed me the heck off.

But seeing the FFXIII Demo is PS3 exclusive...

And now this...

They are warming my heart a bit more.

IF this news turn out to be true, that is.

if thats true you are a sad man, don't hate Square Enix for wanting to put a major Final Fantasy game on the xbox 360... it doesn't make any sense. At the same time, im sure VS will turn out better simply because Nomura is directing it, not that Kitase is any slouch.

Yes, and I highly enjoyed the games that were PS2 console specific, like ICO, which IMO matched any game the original Xbox had graphically. You can do so much more with a game when you make it according to a certain hardware.

That's not even a fair comparison. The original xbox came out way to late in the generation for it to even be considered superior. That's like nintendo coming out with a brand new HD console this year calling it Wii2. Technology is considered outdated every 2 years, so if the Wii came out with a new Wii and made it capable of what the existing technology is, that's saying the Wii2 was better than Wii/360/PS3, even though it came it way too late and at that time technology was far superior than that of when "this gen" started.

PS2 > xbox because the xbox was way to late, plain and simple.

PC's arent really one platform though... all kinds of graphics cards/ram etc. and so people arent getting the same experience. Console just a controlled box that everyone has same so you can optimize for that. SO in a way again they limit results as Im sure they try to optimize for lowere performing as well as higher performing setups, and thats never as good as just going for the max.

One version will be worse than it could be, ie. not the best it could be, when multiplat because devs dont want complaints from various platforms due to differences. Look at Bioshock PS3.

Just proves one thing... console fanboys are a bunch of little brats. What deference does it make if game A or B is going to other consoles. Do you win or loose something if that happens. I buy purely Sony products and Nintendo handheld products, and games tailored to those devices. It's how I like it.

Every generation has different conditions but this time around, I'm certainly not going to waste my time buying a game that could have been put on a Sony console AND better hardware!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII for PS3 will be more like a traditional Final Fantasy game than FFXIII, in Versus XIII you travel across mountains, ocean, wandering in dungeons and battle with summon beasts and so on.

FFvs13 has always been more interesting, then FF13. FF13 was recognized more due to the game going multi-platform, and also many little info released regarding ff13 then ffvs13.

Aww, that's a shame, it's really cool game. Different from other FFs, true. Too different.
Try to play it as totally different game than everything FF have set. It's fun and technologically impressive. I love ingame cutscenes but character development isn't as cool as it used to be and story could be better. But it's still good game and worth playing. Don't like gambits? Don't use or set only basics.

It's great that we have a return to the roots. Didn't like how world map was designed in FFX and XII. But isn't this speculation in this article?

The art style and music is a lot like FFT, which is good. And the combat is like a twist between a traditional RPGs(ATB) and FFXI plus gambits ...What more can i say? I'm a fan of originality.

Anyway, back on topic...for me this is really old news...don't ask me for links 'cause i remember it from some interviews done last year about Nomura looking when the team was testing the airships for the first time and stuff. so if the game has the airships and open world gameplay from traditional FFs then is common sense that FFvXIII will be like a traditional FF no?

Diffrent ? It's Vagrant Story 2. Why they didn't name it Vagrant Story 2 but Final Fantasy ?

FFXII is the the worsest FF game ever it is'n even a FF game.

What is FF GAME ?

+Story,Story Story Story and so on (FFXII - Rat cather Vann want to be a pilot.. and he isn't any halp at all for anyone, he doesn't even speak a lot..., and story is almost non existent it's like MMORG with no story absolutely boring.. )
+Emontional Scenes (FF XII - nope there aren't any.. oh maybe death of rex.. all)
+Characters (FFXII only Balthier & Fran are something rest totaly suck ass.. )
+FF style Battles (FFXII hmm everybody Sword&Cure&Rise ehm it's a joke ? no it's FFXII no thinking just point and click. No strategic thinking using mirrors, spells, blinds, abilities etc.. just point sword and cut him.. booooring)
+Summons, Gfs etc (in FFXII they are completly useless)
+a so on

FFXII it's a good game still but it's not a Final fantasy Game they drop everything that was in previous FF games (FF7-FF10).

I hope that FFversusXIII will be much like older FF games.Please...

I have to disagree with you...FFXII's story is great because it wasn't about the typical "oh here's a guy that wants ultimate power and wants to destroy the world". it's a more war/political theme story type. They also tell you a lot more about Ivalice if you walk around and talk to people in the game which is a fan service for the hardcore Vagrant Story and FF Tactics fans(like me).
And the combat isn't much different than other FFs that all you do is press X to beat a boss...and i loved that they took the annoying battle load screen. But yes the espers are useless but only if you use them on you main characters because they would take your MP to 0...but have you tried using them with your other characters? you don't have to worry about MP there.

I don't know...It all comes down to what you like, so i don't think is fair to say that FFXII is the worst FF just because some don't like it and SE were trying to make it different from the other FF games(including remakes)...

It's not even a source I was looking for, it was mainly evidence that lead to there assumption, what are they basing this off of? What evidence is out there that's making them say this? So based off of CG Trailers and some Screenshots you're able to safely assume that this game is going to be like a traditional FF game? That's a load of fud

According to many PS3 owners, since the multiplat announcement, FF13 is no longer even going 2 be decent and apparently Versus suddenly looks so much better graphically, which clearly isn't the case as the new screens show. It doesn't really matter how traditional it is, Square make the best JRPGs so either way it'll be sweet. But yeah, y on earth would they make this pointless article when they don't have a clue? Versus has the potential to be better cos at the mo it's PS3 exclusive but I doubt that'll last so the potential will be lost. Hope that's the case cos I don't have/want one...

Final Fantasy XIII is the more traditional.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII is the more action oriented one.
It is made by the same team from Kingdom Hearts.
There will be no mountains in Versus XIII.

PS3 gets
1. Exclusive FFXIII demo in March 2009
2. Exclusive FFXIII in Japan - for you Japanese speaker to port since no regional lock unlike the crapbox DVDs
3. Exclusive FFXIII Versus
4. Exclusive FFXIII Agito on PSP
5. "Probably" non-compressed, single disc game for higher quality

a tradtional FF is a turnbased FF. traditional means past FF's

so for it to be a tradtional FF it has to be turnbased and have cool characters (which it does) and good story
