The funny thing is people complain that there aren't more girl gamers, is it any surprise when most adverts are either aimed at guys or in the case of the DS at 8 year old girls :)

Yeah, I see where you are coming from. The majority of Video Game Developers and the majority of people that are involved in the gaming industry period are guys, so the majority of the stuff they post is going to be targeted towards guys... I guess if there was more Females involved in the gaming industry it would be different, but until more women start getting involved in the gaming industry, I'm pretty sure that almost everything regarding video games will be continued to be targeted toward guys.

@AclayPS3 I agree, more women need to be in the industry to change it. I'm fortunate in that I am able to write for a PS3 website and put across my opinions on games from a female perspective. I hope that through some of my work I am able to help support girl gamers, we often feel our voices aren't being heard.

It's good to have the support of other gamers.

Well there's been a lot of articles here from lesbiangamers.com or whatever so I'm guessing guys aren't the only ones getting any benefits from this. And come on MGS2 had raiden run around naked. I don't think we'll ever be able to run around naked with a female character :(

To me though the advertising shouldn't be about whether there's a hot woman in it or not, I didn't buy Metal Gear 2 because there was a naked Raiden in it, I bought it because it was a great game. All that advertising this this says to me is that the advertiser doesn't have the creativity to advertise in a way that appeals to all, they just want to sell a game and they know that a bit of cleavage is a way to get sales.

Surely games should be played because they are good, not because there is nakedness in them.

Thanks for the comment there, I fear that things won't change for women any time soon, it's great that more females are becoming gamers, but because the majority of them are on consoles like the Wii and the DS this sort of advertising doesn't affect them.

I will continue to buy games because I enjoy them.

Even MGS doesn't shy away from the boobies. Why did Eva have to unzip her jumpsuit every time she rode in on her motorcycle in MGS3? How many wedgies can you count in the whole series? I'm not complaining though :)

and as far as women gamers have come and grown in numbers, they are far from the majority.

your average gamer is still male aged 18-40, it doesn't take a marketing genius to figure out that they like boobs/sex etc...
