HGM: Tales of Vesperia Review

Whenever people use examples of the RPG genre, the series always seems to get left out. This year, however, Tales is getting a jump on the competition with one of the first JRPGs on the 360, Tales of Vesperia. Looks like a top notch rpg certainly boosted the old 360 sales in Japan.
Lets just hope it does way better than expected here.

Went to Gamestop today and pre ordered

360
Tales of ves ; Too Human ; Fable 2 ; Gears 2 ; Banjo and Ka ; Infinite Dis.

PS3 Blah :)

wow man your buying their whole lineup thats a little obsesive non? Tales looks ok ill wait a bit meself Gears2 looks solid if you have live a def buy but since i dont its gonna b a rental here. Fable2 could be hit or miss but i may wait till the pc version drops. Dont really se anything else on your list that interest me tho.

Has for the ps3 well Im in on the SOCCOM beta and it a sure buy even with one map and the few issues it has Id pay 40$ to play it. R2 is another buy 60 player online on a console fps. Its even better looking than R1! K2 looks solid too but ill wait to see the user reviews about the online I mean that stuff looked too good.

Damn you know your right its good to own both consoles. Tho from your list id guess you dont even game.

Both gears and fable will be on PC and other than those (and the others you mentioned), Star Ocean 4 is the only other 360 exclusive (along with Viva Piñata 2) I see on the plate through 2009, which is not good. Halo Wars, too, I guess.

Looking a lot better for both Nintendo and Sony in the exclusives department, but I have all 3 so I really don't care.

Sony's got Motorstorm 2, Killzone 2, God of War 3, White Knight Story, whatever Team ICO is working on, FF Versus XIII, Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, Tekken 6, Jak series, Wipeout HD, SOCOM, the remainder of Gran Turismo 5, Dragon Quest, and that's off the top of my head.

Nintendo's (not so much this year but next year) got Madworld, Monster Hunter 3, Fatal Frame IV, Tench IV, Mushroom Men, Little King's Story, Obouro Muramasa Youtoden, Animales de la Muerte, Deadly Creatures, de Blob, the Conduit, Tales of Symphonia 2, Dokapon Kingdom, No More Heroes 2, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (first was amazing with 3 friends who had GBA's), and possibly Kingdom Hearts 3.

Forgot to add Heavy Rain, MAG, Afrika, infamous, Fat Princess, LA Noire, Red Dead Revolver 2, Valkyria Chronicles, Shin Megami Tensei, Time Crisis 4, Way of the Samurai 3, Yakuza 3, The Last Guy, new LocoRoco, Driver 5, and Disgaea 3 to Sony's exclusives.

Not sure about this game. I can't say as I liked the demo, but then I didnt have a handle on the controls and was just mashing. I did like Eternal Sonata and I definitly got a deja vu Eternal Sonata feel out of it so maybe I will pick it up....maybe I will just get Tiger Woods and be done until Mercenaries and Infinit Undiscovery......its going to be an impulse thing I think.

I'm a longtime fan of the Tales games, but seeing as there's a lot of multiplatform releases between the 360 and PS3, I'll wait for the PS3 version. I'm not knocking the 360 version in the least, I encourage 360 Tales owners to enjoy the game to the max. I just prefer the PS3 for Japanese RPGs.

6.1 - I don't think that will work...
Basically the way it looks, I think each console will have their own Tales game! They announced ToV as a 360 exclusive, To Symphonia as a Wii exclusive, and they announced a Tales exclusive for Ps3, but I can't remember the name of it! I do remember that it is not Vesperia.

Either way, each console will have a good tales game, and for all I know they may all be multiplat... But i'm just going by what I know of the games right now!

You have a point, AAA. But Namco-Bandai also denied a North American version of Eternal Sonata for a year or so despite the title appearing in various places online. Now in September, the game will be available to PS3 owners who waited patiently. I think Tales of Vesperia could very well be a cross platform release. NB's own behaviour in the past shows it to be a good chance.
