R&C: Quest For Booty is actually 3.2GB

Better start making room on your hard drive PS3 gamers, Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty is actually 3.2GB big and not 2.3GB as previously reported.

We had a bit of a shock when we went to download our review copy earlier. The 3181MB download weighs in at around 30% larger than we had been expecting.

As we reported yesterday, Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty hits PSN this Thursday with a Blu-ray release following in September.

1.2 - Newegg.com generally has the best prices on bare drives
or you can buy a Western Digital Passport, pop it out of the enclosure and put it in the PS3.

1.4 - Don't know what the whole bruhaha is all about though
I've had an 80gig packed with boat load of demos, photos, trailers, themes, music, games: installs and saves (even PS1&2 saves) and I still be over 30gigs.

I don't think I can ever get to a point where I don't have space for what I want. Right now I'm trying to pack in as much stuff as I can and see how much stuff I can load on there to make it hit the 500mb mark.

Once I accomplish that, I'll be go delete the tonne of stuff I don't use or need like year old demos, trailers etc

@JsonHenry

The thing here is that the console is a known quantity. The only thing unknown is the harddrive size and that is known to an extent. With the PS3 its a minimum of 20G.

At least they know what CPU, how much memory, what video chipset, what OS they are developing for with consoles.

PC games have to be targeted at the "sweet spot" unless you are making something like Crysis and its ilk and want to push the limits. ;-P

I think Sony should start informing people through e-mail that they are able to upgrade thier PS3 harddrive, you know to inform the casual market, maybe make an offcail instruction video on thier website or something.

4 - I want the Blu-Ray disc...
I want it lined up with my Tools of Destruction on my shelf. (Unless it is considerably more expensive.) If there is a big price discrepancy I'll get it from the store.

Day one and not a problem for me. 250GB HDD installed and upgrading to a standard 3.5" SATA 500GB or 1TB HDD when I'm done with my custom PS3 case mod.

8 - Aww, I can't wait for this to come out on Thursday...
Problem is, once completed, I have to wait a full year until more of the same.
Hmm, maybe Naughty Dog'll bring out Jak4 in the meantime.
Getting it anyway, day one, I just can't wait any longer without a quality platformer/action adventure so far this year.

2.3 in US

EU version is 3.2 because of extra languages.

So ive got no problem with 3.2 gb :)

I thought you can't install anything on an external h/d on a PS3.

You are correct, but he is probably putting all the other stuff on his external hdd.Doesn't really matter anyway because 250 GB can still hold a lot of stuff.

mmmm... 1gb for extra languages?? sounds too heavy. i'm pretty sure the size is 3.2 gb for all the stores and the US release running with all the EU languages supported.

Exactly. The only way people with 40gigs dont have space is if they insist on keeping old demos and trailers and leaving game installs for games they don't play on a regular basis any more.

40gig is a heck of a lot if you're mainly gaming on it even with a few photos & music.

As for 20 gig, well you'll have to be strict with your content. 100 game saves won't even take up 1gig of your HDD so you'll have to uninstall game routinly and use your PS3 soly for gaming but I guess that's the whole reason people bought the 20gig in the first place so they shouldn't complain at all

Plus at least you got a HDD and can easily upgrade to an 80 or 120 for less the $50-80 if you feel your gaming needs are changing.

Sony tried to warn us that we'd need large spaced HDDs this gen but alot of people called BS when they listen to MS saying HDD wasn't neccessary for gaming.

Not to mention game installs. I'm sure glad I got my 60gb ps3 when I did. But I can't help but wonder about everyone else with 20gb and 40gb versions. Sure you can upgrade, but not everyone has the money and time to do that.

Well as for time, it takes all of 5 mins to do and as for money, I'd say isn't that the reason they got 20&40gigs in the first place?

Man I must be pretty old if I feel like once I buy a gaming console, that should be pretty much it. Swiping a hardrive is inflation on an already expensive console. I've also never been a pc gamer, so upgrading is completely new to me. If it's easy enough for parent's to swipe, especially if they bought the cheaper models for their kids, then great, no worries then. The core gamer would find a way to upgrade regardless, so it was the casual I was referring to. :)

I would have bought this game day 1 if it would have had trophy support. Gutted. Enjoyed Tools of Destruction, but for £10.00 I would like a reason to replay the game. Missed opportunity, if you ask me.

The only 500gb 2.5 i know of (and i work in a computer store) is by Buffalo and is an external. Ive seen some indications that 500gb internals exist, however i havent heard of one available in the retail channel yet.
