Microsoft: Xbox 360 Will Beat PS3 For Years On Software Sales

All sony has to do is get within the range of about 3 million consoles under the 360 (they are currently at about 5) to beat MS in software sales worldwide

I say that because they software sales in Europe are already better on the ps3 and japan is a no brainer.

So once they are about 3 million under the 360 install base in the U.S. you'll see Sony over the 360 in software sales

i dont even care which console sells more. does it matter to us?? we clearly wont see ps3 dominate like the ps2 did. as long as there even, but HELL no i dont want one company to dominate or who knows what shinanegans theyll pull on prices and what not.

well maybe they are looking at it differently then us.

They realize they have the cheaper console, they can drop the price lower at anytime versus the ps3, the 360 has a dvd drive and thats it, so if they wanted to do a 149 arcade well they actualy could and that plays a factor in an important way.

1. If ps3 multiplat games dont outshine the 360 version.(and not the ocasional game, i mean the majority of multiplat games).
2. If PSN never catches up to LIVE. WE have seen that at any moment ms can counter whatever sony does when it comes to the dashboard and things like home and also can improve on whatever sony does as well..
3. Exclusives matter for both consoles but at this point sony has more but will it really matter, im sure ms has more sony only exclusives popping up like tekken and many others most likely.
4. FF13 nuff said.
5. Maybe blueray isnt taking off like sony would have liked and that might factor in.

Its basicly august 08, september, october and novemeber are right around the corner, January 09 is so close and it comes fast and i dont see sony's ps3 taking 1st place by then,Im sure wii will be in first, but they will do well, I say this becuase of this.

after this november the 360 is going into its 4TH year. Besides home and some exclusives what will cause everyone to go ps3.
You have a 4 year old console going against the more powerful console YET THE MULTIPLAT GAMES JUST STARTED TO BE EQUAL on both systems.
so the only thing the ps3 has over the 360 is exclusives that might show some true power but thats it.

Think about it, if only the exclusives show what the ps3 can do but all multi plats or at least most look better or by that time are equal with the 360 version. And it wont be like the 360 wont have its share of big games and big exclusives with sick graphics as well and they have done so for 3 years, its not like the 360 has gotten worse graphicaly, while everyone said it was done improving it just does the opposite and even if marginal the games do look better and better.

So now you have the 4 year old 360 thats much cheaper at the starting level(arcade) and cheaper still at the equivalent lever(pro). and while its cheaper all games besides exclusives look the same, play the same and one has the better online.

So MS might have a point.

At the same time im not mental, at anytime the sony express can happen, but i stress it wont happen this holiday.
But net holiday i can see sony just crushing both ms and nin.

All the ps2 owners, dont forget all of them, that loyal fan base should be tired of the ps2 very very soon.

I love Sony but I'd have to agree. Nobody likes crap games. Exclusives are where you make your money and Cross platform shooters tend to shift toward xbox because of it's great Live service.

I edited it so reread it before saying im on drugs. And i own all 3 consoles , im an old fart, i truly dont care who wins but i love gaming and i love the fun spirited bikkering that the internetS have inspired us to do. But dont be closed minded, these guys are playing with big money, they know thingswe dont, or it could be all PR and bull talk. but in this business you never know.

And if you look back at my first posts from years ago you will see I predict that while MS will lead for years sony will make a dramatic comeback. its innevitable and you can blame the ps2 for this slow start besides all the boo boos sony has made along the way.

Im getting tired of ms's comments and sony's, it doesnt nothing bu fuel the fire, you dont see NIN doing much of this crap.

Member back a few year at E3 when i think J allard claimed 100 million live users, cmon get real, now recently with the WE will sell more consoles then ps3.

Sony does it as well, all pr crap.

why do we have to read such tripe, i seriously doubt microsoft themselves even believe this they just want to say something instead of letting the console and indeed the games speak for themselves.
i have been gaming a long time and own both a 360 and a ps3 and they are both fantastic consoles but us the gamer has to ask one question to microsoft.

how long is it before you completely dump the 360 like you did the first xbox and release the 720 or whatever yur going to call it.
statements like this even if it's pr trash talk just fuels the fire for the microsoft haters which there are plenty.
up until recently they have had it al there own way this generation but the tide is changing fast and they know it

the 360 is a fantastic console and should be easy for microsoft to build on it's success but such statements are just not required because it's obvious it's not goint to happen

Ive bee thinking about this whole situation for a long time and this is my take on it!

People should stick with the console brand they prefer, this is the sole reason why game consoles exist today. I prefer the PS3 because i have evaluated what it has to offer me, and i think it was the right choice for me. Alot of people seem to forget that exclusives are the reason game consoles sell. They are the reason why someone can walk into a shop and pick whichever console they want, knowing fully well the experience cannot be replicated somewhere else.

My Girlfriends brother has an XBOX360, and i have played a couple of games on it and spent time with the hardware. The 360 is a nice machine, but simply not the machine for me. I like to be able to choose in that manner.

My beef with Microsoft is their attitude and tactics concerning 3rd party titles could be the reason the game industry will collapse very soon: the death of the 3rd party exclusives. M$ are doing a great job getting their fanbase alot of third party games, but in the long run this tactic will confuse customers and give them very little reason to have choice. Since most games are on both platforms, the incentive to pick one over the other is not there anymore. This is why the Nintendo Wii is selling alot. because they have games that cant be done on any other console (Same as DS). They are relying on first party titles, and it is serving them well.

I can see sony is going down this route, and i think Microsoft should do it as well. The thought of only one console existing in the industry is horrifying. Lack of Choice is horrifying (It s heading down that route). Just imagine if all MP3 players, HD-T.V.'s, Laptops and Mobile phones offered the same design, features and services . . . it's disgusting to think about it. Variety and exclusives will drive sales. Making all previous 3rd party PS exclusives appear on your console wont.

Last but not the least, People Should give more respect to fanboys (whichever console it is). Without them, game consoles wont exist, and exclusive games wont sell. It makes me sad to see people are scared of the console they own because they know they will get attacked.

Ill make is loud and clear "I AM a PS3 Fan and i love what the console has to offer me".

It isnt a SIN to defend the console you like, but obviously when you go around causing arguments and childish comparisons, then you are only giving FANBOYS the bad name.

Long live the FANBOYS, Dont try and imitate the people who pretend they own all consoles and call themselves "gamers" when in reality alot of those species dont even own any of the consoles.

Seeing all these cool games Sony is producing and barriers their breaking for creating new technology in games they can't be touched.
Microsoft has good games but their not the best.
Until MS can get a exclusive game looking like Uncharted or better then I'll call them competitive if they don't deliver then don't call them the best.
Microsoft is all money less hard work.
In Japan 360 is dead, Europe 360 lost that area to Sony, and America their neck and neck w/ the PS3.

Its the last bullet point MS has and it all stems from selling 10.5 million units in a market without competetors! If they launched with the PS3 and the Wii they would be in last place! But it was a good move for MS in terms of selling software
