1 - It makes me wonder if the deal with Square
for Final Fantasy was extremely last minute and they decided to save Bungie for shows later in the year. Then again you would think it would have had to of been last minute or someone would have leaked the information on the net.

I guess the SE deal was last minute because they didn't even started to develop on the 360

1.2 - The FFXIII deal was ridiculously last minute.
It took place just three days before the E3 conference.

microsoft is said to have cut a lot from its conference in interest of having a more compact straight to the point kinda thing

i guess having the bungie thing in their pocket gives them some ammo in the future, anytime things look bad they can go "oh look what we have"

especially considering the online component of halo3, one can only imagine what they will improve and add

i'll be the first to say that i'm not a halo fan but the fact is it has one of the best, if not the best online systems and community of any console game

Leipzig and PAX will be very interesting. :)

3 - bungie knew
that there was a chance that the announcement would be pulled.

If you followed the SI arg he said stuff like
expect delays
please remain calm

MS wanted to focus on the new xbox features and games releasing this year, I'm sure MS will announce a bunch of new info on upcoming 2009 releases soon.

5.1 - It seems both Sony and MS
left out quite a bit at E3 this year. E3 dead and never coming back?

Did Nintendo even show up?

E3 used to be a place where respective companies would lay their cards on the table. This year, I'm more excited about announced that are supposed to me made after the show.

6 - What a lame PR spin
"We didn't feel we needed to show Halo to have a great show, to pay homage to our core audience, to have a lot of news, so it was an embarrassment of riches and we couldn't fit it in. How great is that? I think that's awesome."

SO you're telling me that instead of showing an exclusive IP like Halo's next adventure they preferred showing off two multiplatform games instead?

So you're telling me they'd rather show of games that the competition's fanbase can benefit from having a look at games that will be on the PS3 to instead of your flagship in-house franchise?

BS! They didnt have anything tangible to show for Halo at E3. That's the only reason they didn't include any halo news cause had they just done some teaser trailer, a la GoWIII, the industry would have seen that as a very sad move indeed so they didn't bother.

I just don't get how people keep falling for MS's BS.

the focus was on xbox live and the new dashboard...halo would have softened that theme

i don't think it is spin at all

they had the new dash and gears which are fall 2008 releases, the new halo is likely next year so it was left for later

6.3 - But we haven't really seen anything...
MS and Bungie has stated it would be spectacular, but currently we don't know since we only have their word for it.

So I say let's wait and see when it is revealed...

6.4 - I think
this is exactly what MS wants. They don't want you to know everything. Everyone is getting so excited about what games MS has up their sleeves.

Thats like waking up christmas morning and already knowing every present you got before you open them. Kinda ruins the surprise.

I liked it better back in the day when games were just released at the store without any hype. Not watching, "The complete Walkthrough + All secrets" video on youtube before the game even comes out really makes a more enjoyable gaming experience.

That's be cool I guess to have an event just for Halo. They can show off Halo Wars again, I think that's out next year. They can show Peter Jackson's Project, and Bungie's Halo game as well.

But i agree, Bungie is sure to announce something soon, and Microsoft better have something up their sleeve, cuz they showed nothing at E3

8.2 - well, not really.
LBP garnered far more attention, it was by far the real show stealer, and the GoOW trailer was probably more anticipated by most fans. MAG for most people is just another military shooter, this time featuring a large amount of people as it's draw, it also hurt that the game was cgi, and people know the sony trackrecord on getting cgi debuted games out in time.

I'm sure it will be an amazing game and all, especially if it's similar to older socom games(which is rumored to be the new title of the game), but it wasn't any sort of bomb.

A real bomb would've been like FF7 or announcing 4 or 5 unreleased titles, with gameplay, to be released later this year and early next.

well if the SS they revealed is really in-game... then it wasn't a CGI but In-engine trailer which means its running on PS3 hardware..

BTW MAG won't be an FPS its a TPS =D

9 - Look at the brightside
If what Bungie was going to show, would "blow away" the competition as some people have said, they now have more time to polish that, and they could make it even better!

Patience, if you can wait for Xmas you can wait for Bungie's announcement, it will come in time! :D

MS now has an ace up their sleeve and I'm sure they will pull it this holiday to boost sales and hype the 360 even more. IMO if MS would have dropped the Halo bomb after the FF13 bomb, it could have hurt the industry because Sony would in no way could have matched it, they couldn't even match the FF13 bomb. Last year Sony did fairly well but this year (Sorry PS3 fanboys) Sony got ownd. First MS boasted about Live and game sales being number one on thier platform, which is true, then they wen't right to the games and didn't let up. I would have loved to see what's next for Halo but it seems I won't have to wait that long.

"Game goes multiplat"

Yay?!?!?!?

Really it is kinda sad that the best MS thought to show was a multiplat. Yeah it was a shock, but once that wears off its kinda like.... "well what do they have that sony doesnt?"

I can tell you KZ2 look wikid, R2 looks wikid, LBP looked wikid, GOW trailer actually made me want it to come out (not a fan of the series), MAG looks sweet and ff13 looks sweet (although personally i think square is spread to thin to produce really groundbreaking games).

On the 360 side of things i can tell you that.... umm.... ff13 still looks sweet and apparently halo 4 is ground breaking... According to bungie. And they would be unbiased in saying that.

Sony was laying landmines, ms was packing flashbangs.

15 - Well
Bungie is a proven success, so I'm pretty sure whatever they have is going to be worth the wait. What is more interesting to me is what have they done with the hardware of the 360. They must have learned alot working on Halo3, seeing what Epic is doing with Gears series. I'm intrigued, so perhaps the best thing they did was not show anything. X08 here we come!

I see Bungie is still crying over this as usual. They are acting like MS canceled the whole game. So what you didn't get a chance to make an announcement at E3 about an up in coming game that isn't even coming out this YEAR anyway. This doesn't change people's decision on buying the game when it comes out. I mean really, they work in the game industry, they know things change at the last minute. Bungie should just get back to work, stop acting like little 5yr olds and put this to rest already. Halo1-3, Plus the PC version was/is great an all but what else have you done over the years besides that to deserve so much sympathy over other devs.

let's see here. If you were told that you had a deadline to get something spectacular to show. and you have to work all that time in a short time frame in order to show YOUR product... but at the last second, someone tells you.. "oh yea, we didn't need you, all that hard work and that ARG you had going, and that video you did with the podcast is useless."

wouldn't you be a little let down??!

You mean like spending two hours making a superman poster for a friend's son on his birthday only to have him turn around at the last minute an say he brought him a superman poster from walmart type of let down. Yes of course but like I said, stuff like that happens all the time in this type of buisness. I see this way:

Bungie: Hey guys, I got some cool new GI Joes to show you today.

Fans: COOL!!!

Bungie: (Moments later) Sorry guy's, my mom said I can't show you the cool new Joes I got today, so don't blame/hate me for not bring them out today. It was all her fault.

Fans: F your mom man. She suck. I thought you moved out of her house anyway?

20 - Probably the new Halo was not good enough.
I belive MS did not let Bungie to do their presentention because it is not good.

The point is,for those that LOVE Halo series it does not matter much if the graphics are high end or the same as the previous Halo game. I bet that a "spy" from MS managed to see how uber was the graphics on MAG/,Socom,R2 and KillZone2 for the PS3 and MS resolved that Bungie should restart from ground zero the new Halo, using a better engine.

Graphics does not matter as much as a fun gameplay but when your competitor shows games that make yours to look like game cube games some thing got to be made ASAP!

/cough* MS bought FF13 because of it,they had nothing graphicaly better to show on the E3(including GoW2).They could not allow Sony to build more ground.

20.2 - FF13
MS bought FF13 to slow Sony down in sales, that's the main reason. They didn't want the Square Enix guys going to E3 with a PS3 exclusive and showing it off, so they paid for it to go multiplatform right before they got to E3. That's how it went down.

MS don't really care about FF13 they just don't want to miss out on the sales, from a business point of view they've made a very good decision. Microsoft isn't run by a bunch of idiots, they know they have to slow Sony's sales down one way or another and the FF13 deal was just one way to do it. It had nothing to do with the graphics.
