Wii Shines, Xbox 360 Loses Ground

TGDaily.com writes, big announcements at E3 cannot hide that Microsoft had a rough June with its game console. The Nintendo Wii surpassed the Xbox 360 as the most sold current game console in the United States. Every other game console, including the PSP and Nintendo DS, sold more units. XBOX 360 now has Final Fantasy XIII also. All XBOX 360 has done since it's release is manage to add every major franchise to it's library and sell the most software.

I don't see Microsoft changing their ways, XBOX 360 isn't going anywhere. It's just the console to own if you want all the best games. If that's not enough, then what is?

If a gaming console isn't about the games, then what's it about? XBOX 360 might go through some tough times, as everyone does. But they have a rock solid plan, "get all the games", they have the strongest idea of all.

Eventually, all gaming will go by one name, and it's Microsoft XBOX. That's just the reality that has to be faced.

It is the price. PS3 is selling because the people that brought the 360 are now buying PS3 also and some diehards were waiting for MGS4. In other words Sony is still selling to the harcore while MS has almost exhausted their market of the hardcore, hence their focus on casual games to increase their target market.

Smacktard why would you buy three systems if you can get all that content on one system?

This culture we have now is soo messed up everybody wants instant results and reading lifetime trends out of two months.

This article is a clear example of how the press can mis-lead readers. Notice the article never mentioned that June was the release of mega-title MSG4 which aided immensely in the sales of the PS3. It tried to make things appear as if June was just another hum ho kind of a month.

Even though, the DS outsold the wii and the PS3, that was never mentioned. This article was solely aim and written to shine a negative light on the xbox 360. The sad thing about it is that only the more tech savvy of readers will be able to read between the line.

oh well, that's life I guess. I remember, a year ago these same losers were talking the same crap about the PS3. It just shows, that journalist are loyal to no one but themselves.

End of 2k5 1.5 million 360s shipped.
End of 2k6 10.4 million 360s shipped. 8.9 million shipped for 2k6.
End of 2k7 17.7 million 360s shipped. 7.3 million shipped for 2k7.
First 1/2 of 2k8 20.3 million 360s shipped. 2.6 million shipped for first 1/2 of 2k8.

Now these are MS's own numbers. Unless they can ship another 4.5+ million units for the rest of 2k8 their shipped numbers for the year will go down again this year. That is definitely a downward slope. They need to drop the price of the system and stop treating their customers like ATM machines if they want to reverse the trend.

Funnyly enough i was just looking at VGchartz.com
Not saying that its correct, but i compared the PS3 Xbox360 and PS2 ect, then the PSP and DS ect, they are all doing better then the Xbox 360.

I compared it with XB also, and i saw a horisontal line..

What a Say Sad Chart it was.

its amazing that peeps are saying where are the exclusives ms but where are they for the ps3? mgs, resistance,kz and lbp. thats it r1 was was garbage,kz1 was garbage and kz2 has been in dev for a long time and all it has is shiny graphics, mgs is great and lbp is up in the air . bluray should not be a factor because we r talking games. so what does ps3 have motorstorm, big whoop,.

Its sad that the ps3 has been out for almost 2 years have has 3 good games and the second was just released. uncharted " i love this game " and mgs4 , cod4

I am a fan of both consoles and the PS3 has the most appealing exclusive line up.
X Box has Halo and Gears that are the huge AAA titles, they also have great games such as Mass Effect(might go multiplat) and Fable, what else is there really.
You are forgetting a lot of PS franchises such as God of War, Tekken, Gran Turismo, Shadow of the Colossus, and Socom. All were a huge success on the ps2, and they are coming this and next year. Then you got the platformers such as Ratchet and Jak which Banjo stands no chance against. Sony has the most new IPs and they are bringing back the old ones for the 3rd year.
They also have a lot of new ones lined up which are not talked about yet, MS does too but Sony has a lot more.

PS3 sales were boosted by those Wal-mart deals, the MGS4 80GB PS3 bundle, and the launch of MGS4 in general. I think that PS3 sales will probably return to pre 300,000 unit level next month, but there's just no telling. Now that the PS3 has gotten a MAJOR hit game title, I think that many people now see the PS3 as a worthy console and PS3 sales should remain pretty solid for the rest of this year.

That 80GB PS3 at $399 is going to be a hit at retail when it's released because the 40GB PS3 at $399 was a big seller and a PS3 with more hard drive space for the same price should get some attention.

However, whenever you look at Xbox 360 sales, you have to consider the fact that the Xbox 360's lowest price point is $279 and it was outsold by the PS3 in June almost 2:1 and those PS3's that sold in June were $399 and $499 EACH.

I don't think that the Xbox 360 has lost it's appeal yet, but from what I'm noticing, it's seeing a slow down. The Xbox 360 supposedly has all these great games and a low price point, but it's not outselling the PS3 and the PS3 has many fewer big game titles and a much higher price point and that tells me that people just want the PS3 and they don't care how much it costs.

Plus, there's just more PS2 gamers out there waiting to get a PS3 and that is where Sony has the advantage, the PS2 userbase. Sony has taken great care of millions of PS2 owners around the world for this long and most of those PS2 owners are going to return the favor back to Sony by buying a PS3 because they know that Sony will take care of them for another full 10 years. Whenever you consider all the factors I just talked about, I can see why so many Anaylsts think that the Xbox 360 will eventually be in 3rd place.

And I don't know what the heck caused the PSP to all of a sudden take off in the U.S. in June, but it just proves that the PSP isn't dead.

you cant say the y aren't the most pop in us. The isn't a factor. its ps3 vs 360. Early on the ps3 sold a few mill just because of bluray.I have both systems and prefer the 360 for a few reason but the ps3 is a great system.

the real sad fact is that the sony fanboys are so brainwashed by sony that they cant even admit that the 360 is a good gaming platform from network to games .Even if the 360 was in 3rd it still put a hole in the ps fanbase and is a great alt to the playstation. Like I said I have both and the 360 is still my system of choice but uncharted is like wow .

A 400 bluray means nothing because how many devs will use 400 gigs ? how many will use 100 gigs? how many to this date have used 50 gigs? and how many to this date has used more than 10 gigs? The media space isnt a major factor. Metal Gear Soldid would be fine on a dual layered dvd if it didnt have the 40% movies.FACT!

Yeah but if you take those 40% "movies" it wouldn't be the same game. It'll be a downgrade, and i don't know about you but i wouldn't want to play a downgraded version. I rather have them and have the luxury to skip them whenever i want.
