Guys just ignore him... He's just came out of puberty and wants to be a big grownup. Doesn't want to play with kiddie toys for at least a decade.

I'd like to have seen infamous in there, also in my opinion, I thought that Killzone 2's multiplayer detials stole away the thunder of resistance.

LBP is extremely innovative. This game should sell well. Man I'm surprised not to see lips with that award. Oh.. I forgot why give a mediocre game an award like that.

You'd hope it'll sell well. Could very well end up being another game like Shadow of the Colossus. A critical success, but commercial flop.

God i hope not.

Even though my personal fave is Mirror's Edge, I can't disagree with them. LBP is a true masterpiece and a groundbreaking game.

4.1 - Everyone' talking
GTA4, MGS4, GEAR 2, RFOM ... honestly ... if this tells you one thing, its that LBP might be the "shocker" GOTY. Some of the stuff we've seen at E3 makes me want that game more than anything.

People may think it's a kiddy game and blast me for saying that, but its easily the most innovative game coming out. The possibilites are endless.

True. It's not a kiddie game. It's just a game for everyone. Perfect mix of hardcore and casual with limitless possiblities. Innovation wise, I also agree that it goes far but my pick is still Mirror's Edge. I just LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Mirror's Edge.

4.3 - it's a good year,
see this year I'm excited about being excited for certain games, like instead of the usual, oh new GTA, oh new Gears, I'm saying hey look Mirror's Edge and LBP and Alan Wake (don't laugh one day I will get my old PC exclusive back, hopefully they haven't turned it into a geow style shooter) I'm excited because I'm excited about new IPs and thats a good thing, I personally think Mirrors Edge is better than LBP because I'm more of a fan of first person games, or western RPGs (and sometimes if I'm lucky a good FPRPG) so this game is looking very good, one thing I'm gonna hate about the upcoming games like LBP, Banjo, and I guess Blastworks(wii) is it might usher in the era of user generated content games, and it will keep getting worse until one day some dev is going to give us just a bare game engine, and tell us its a game, "you can make whatever you want! FPS, RPG, Fighting, anything, all you need to do is get you and a few hundred friends to come over, give them all seperate jobs, like art design or texturing, and in 3 years time you'll have made a game. amazing!"

4.4 - Only thing i'm concerned about mirror's edge is the camera...
i swear i'm not saying this because of that article, but since i saw the first trailer i thought i couldn't last more than 10 minutes playing that game..

The same thing happened with "The Club" i played it and i almost puked by the time i was done.. maybe it goes away after you play it for a long time, but imo that movements even thou immersive, it "could" ruin the game experience..

Agreed mepsipax as always :)
Nice idea :D

BulletToothtony, actually Kotaku addressed that issue in their article and to their surprise, only watching someone play the game gives a dizzy effecty. Kotaku previewer said actually playing the game by yourself has no such effect.

What they need to do is bundle this with the soon-to-be-deceased 40gb and drop the price to 299.

The only thing stopping this title from going to the casual gamers is the price of the console. This title has the unique ability to fuse the hardcore and the casual gamer into one platformer. Unfortunately with the price of the console I am afraid this title is not going to reach the latter type until the consoles price is lower.

Yeah making the 40gb into an 80gb w/dualshock 3 lessens the pain of being $399.99.

But I agree, Sony should have just stuck with the 40gb, threw in a dualshock 3, and drop the price to $299.99. They would have sold way way way way more units than just upping the HDD size.

Nonetheless, at least they did something.

Did you not see Mirror's Edge? It goes against a lot of things that are FPS related.

Gears of War 2 is the defintion of badass. Cant wait for that one.

Mirror's edge is a unique take on FPS, cant wait to TRY that one.

Fallout 3. Umm, I might be the only one but I wasn't really impressed with that one. But I'm willing to TRY that one too and explore it's world.

And LBP. Yes it deserves it. It's basically a game that you buy once, and can play forever. A game that's solely based on user-created content will never end. Talk about value.

7.4 - woah guys
mirrors edge is not a shooter, remember that, so it doesn't fall under the FPS category, people always think that, as soon as a game is in first person it's instantly a shooter,(works most of the time) but I don't see why everybody so excited about the expansion pack to Gears, all it adds is new levels, a few new weapons, new story, and lots of tweaks to the gameplay like faster turning, smoother movements, you know that it should be an expansion pack to the first gears because all it is is gears 1.5, still looking forward to it though, I saw a demonstration of their physics engine and it looked pretty cool, even though physics are just a gimmick in games nowadays.

I totally agree... Fallout 3 looks like Oblivion with a gun and some bioshock customizable weapons. Graphics are bland and gameplay looks staid.

10 - I don't think i've heard a bad word about this game yet!!!!!
which in these days of fanboys and biased sites and reviewers is saying something.

I think its like mario for the next generation, in that it is a game for all types of gamers. and like they said just puts a smile on your face when the controler is in your hand.

its a fun platformer for casual gamers, the levels can be made really complex to suit people after more of a challenge, i guess its gonna haev a huge community and online factor, endless amount of content so it will last, and users can make their own levels so the real hardcore gamers can sit and spend the time to make some real killer levels.

i personally can't wait, its just what im after, soemthing refreshing.
gta4 just bored me, i wanna play resitance 2 to follow the story and i liked the first one, and will play multiplayer for a while, but i dont go back thru those kinda games on hard and extreme, just play thru once on normal and thats it

LBP will keep me playing for ages i hope

11 - LBP
Even if you have no creativity in you this game is still going to be the ultimate...but you're just going to be stuck with the 40 something levels included on the disc and then I guess since you can't make anything cool yourself you will have to download one of the thousands of levels that somebody else made.

11.1 - Well, there's a little more to it than that...
You unlock creative "tools" as you advance, to make your own levels better. You rate people's levels and their popularity grows, same with your levels.

14 - Nice choice
Everyone will grow from this game. Putting this much power into gamers hands is an exceptional way for Sony to give back to its customers. This is the kind of game that I grew up dreaming to play, and with the community aspect so polished and solid, there is no stopping the diversity that will ensue. Expect this game to officially create a brand new genre, and be the very first megahit of its kind. When I think of gaming innovation, and breaking new ground, I think of this game, the Spore experience, and perhaps what those loons over at Quantic Dream are doing with the "Digital actors" in Heavy Rain. Immersion is no longer just a dream, but a possibility.. I expect at least a thousand Halo recreations, Half Life moments reimagined, even games created by other developers within LittleBigPlanet. Imagine the contests, the paradigm shifts! (Imaging what crazy things 8 year olds will do with this technology)Not only will we be scouring the LBP network for fun levels, game designers will be looking at it for new ideas for big budget games. This could be the Mario for a new era, where Mario is what you want him to be, and his quest is your creation.

14.1 - Its been done before
Its all about how fun the core game is. I have countless games with level creators on pc, even far cry instincts on the 360 has a level creator. Ever heard of neverwinter nights? Why do you think pc gamers think the console version of Oblivion is so inferior?

Little Big Planet is a little bit different. I don't see Neverwinter Nights or Far Cry Instincts reaching the broad audiences that LBP is capable of and neither would most games with level creators out there right now. It's the unique qualities of LBP, a lot of people have said that it kind of breaks out of categorization. Like what the original poster said, it provides that Spore experience, but with a different style of execution. Perhaps the concept has been done before, but this is a much more organic and fluid idea. New levels will constantly be rolling out, and that is what makes this so exciting.

Just to focus on one point the previous commenter made, I don't really see the point of reaching a broad audience. Reaching a broad audience is precisely the reason playing Halo 3 online can be annoying at times--you get this foul-mouthed little kids blabbering until you mute them. Reaching a broad audience is one reason that Fallout 3 will probably be weak--elements that might be artistic but difficult to grasp will be nixed for cheesy overused elements that please the masses. Finally, reaching a broad audience is one major excuse for making games way too easy, thus limiting their single player re-playability because there's no additional challenge to be met.

14.4 - at above
Well the nice feature of LBP, as stated by the Media Molecule guy on the G4 demo, is that you can adjust pre-existing levels for difficulty as you see fit. This game has the potential to be as difficult as you'd want it to be with user created content. Most important word there is potential. If Media Molecule designs the interface well, there will be plenty of "hardcore" level options to meet your fancy if the community of LBP is large enough to churn out the content constantly. The core game itself will be simple in execution, but the possibilities could be endless.

At first I was skeptical about this game until I seen the way that you can put a level together. The possiblities with the game are really endless and I can't wait for it to come out. I'm tired of just shooting people and running over them with cars this game will bring something new to a over saturated market!
