Hideo Kojima = The Man With The Plan.

Isn't it ironic that some of the best video games ever made came from Japanese developers? Almost all the guys on that list were Japanese and I'm sure that one day Fumito Ueda will join amongst the ranks of those guys.

Games developed by Japanese studios have been some of the only games that have connected with me emotionally... it's just undescribable. Japanese developers seem to pour their heart and soul, blood, sweat, and tears into a game unlike most of the typical American developers.

15 - Why most of them are Japanese

It's because they come from different backgrounds. Cartoonists and sculptors are employed by game houses in Japan. From these different perspectives they bring something new. Western developers seem to be more akin to a bunch of computer geeks and thus more self referential than innovative. This is obviously a massive generalization but as it becomes a more mainstream occupation it may be more possible to get some serious innovation from Western development houses.

As for Japanese devs: Miyamoto is the best, Kojima is second, and Sakaguchi is third. However, the only one that has kept himself fresh is Kojima as Miyamoto is doing mini-game garbage and Sakaguchi has lost his touch.

For western devs: Will Wright is the best, followed perhaps by Warren Spector, and John Carmack.

Young devs with potential: David Jaffe and Cliffy B.

Holy sh1t, Uematsu is number 1? lol, his music is godly indeed.
