It's a little weird that so many years into it's life cycle MS abandons the interface for a completely new look. It makes me wonder if they thought they made the right design. I think they did. I'm perfectly fine with the "Blades" interface.

It would be weird if in a year Sony completely gets rid of the XMB and incorporates a new User Interface. It's just baffling.

Maybe they just needed an overhaul to push those retarded avatars on the user base.

It is being said by almost EVERY analyst and on all polls on the web. And it's not evens close in the polls. It's like 66% MS and 28% Sony.

First of all it wasn't an XBOX360 show it was the Microsoft conference. (still you might think that it was purely an Xbox360 show)

Second, Microsoft showed multiplatforms to fill up the time on stage and Sony could have done exactly the same but they had EXCLUSIVES instead which are related only to thier console and if I were calling the shots I would not let anyone show multiplatforms except for the developers who made them. I would concider it cheating.

Third, Microsoft had no big announcement or ground breaking news except for FFXII coming to the Xbox360 and thats also a multiplatform that they were advertising. Overall thier conference was dull and just full of buissness numbers which can make anyone except for the microsoft stockbrokers and xbox-fanboys sleepy.

What was it that made the conference so great?
- The video deal with Netflix? It will just force you to a gold membership and a Netflix monthly pay of 10 dollars extra.
- Avatars? Anyone that has eye's know that it's a ripoff of the Wii avatars. I thought more of you fanboys would be angry than thinking it was a good idea. You have spent money on the gamecard pictures and now thier worthless? I sertenly would be furious if I got slaped in the face like that.
- A full latitute of appealing products? No Xbox360 was in full focus, nothing on the PC front whatsoever.
- Any juicy exclusive announcements of xbox360 games for the future? Nope, No new games for 09 and not many playable exclusives at E3 either.

Are you focking kidding me???

EDIT: The majority of you are saying that Sony had a good conference but MS had the edge, can you give an example of what they did to deserve 1st place?

You are correct, you don't get the full dashboard. However you get a blade that comes up with everything that you will need to use while in a game, like friends, messaging, etc.

Even though the full PS3 dash come up when you hit the ps button, almost everything you try and select tells you that you will need to exit the game. So basically, sony would have been better served to have added a mini xmb, with only gaming related thing in it instead of the full dash.

The Primetime Games (like the 1vs100 (a interactive, schedule based videogames with MASSIVE numbers of players? that is simply ground breaking -- wait and see what they do with it... how about interactive television with users choosing the outcome? how about massive trivia contests with international-scale competition (think jeopardy on consoles with big prizes..) and on and on, the Primetime games were the most "overlooked suprise here")

If you're referring to FFXIII, I prefer exclusivity because the end product is less buggy on EITHER console, less diluted development. I am happy that more people will experience a great franchise, but I'm not happy that it comes at a cost to that experience.

All the polls and most of the analysts agree that Microsoft won this E3.

Sony is still introducing things on PSN that Microsoft had years ago while xbox live is still reinventing itself and innovating.
Sony introduced a couple of new games with no release date and were unable to show in-game footage or put on a demonstration. After their track record of cancelling games they announced at E3 it's very hard to trust that MAG or some of the other titles will even come out.

I like Microsoft's approach which is much more down to earth, instead of making all these grandiose claims and giving a campy historical perspective of their console, they gave a brief snapshot of what is to come in the near future. At least when microsoft introduces a game at E3 you know that it will come out before the next E3. Sony actually apologized for the delay of Home's release at their E3. The E3 is no place for apologies, broken promises, and unrealistic claims.

If you're going to say that you have a game with 256 player multiplayer then you better, at the minimum, have an in-game demonstration as proof. All Sony had was a quick pre-rendered trailer that didn't look special and proved nothing.

Microsoft has much more credibility because Sony has lied so many times. In the past, they've said things like the PS3 launch titles would look better than anything the 360 would ever produce and that the PS3 is ten times more powerful than the 360. Sony fanboys just don't know what they're missing because Sony has been BSing them since day one. It's sad.

Some of the MS conference was unbearably embarrassing. Maybe its a cultural thing, I dunno...

I guess what this E3 has shown me is that people with a vested interest in only one machine, will see exactly what they want to see.

...What made Microsoft's show the best? Please do summarize it in one paragraph because the only thing I saw that was kind of interesting was the whole Netflix thing. Other than that, the new interface and the avatars reminded me way too much of Sony and Nintendo's ideas.

Fable wasn't too appealing, Gears 2 was okay but didn't *wow* me, and the rest of the games they mentioned were multi-platform. And now that I think about it, that announcement of FFXIII going multi-platform isn't so bad afterall because Microsoft are so stupid that they don't realize what FF means in Japan. If they were smart, they would try to get Square to release it to 360 owners in Japan so they could get some kind of edge.

But they're idiots so...
