Poland.US - Devil May Cry 4 Review

DMC4 is essentially the same game released on consoles in the spring, though we give much kudos to Capcom for taking the time to optimize their engine so drastically and adding PC-specific features. This is undoubtedly the premiere version of the game.

1 - as always..
better version on PC.. but this wont last anymore.. nex-gen games will need Nex-gen storage media (Blu-ray)..

otherwise they need huge amount of HDD for install(you know the examples)

side effects: lengthy time for install, limited workspace for developers..

PC games have always required installation, they required it years ago when games were just 10 - 20mbs and they require it today where games require 8,000mbs. This really isn't an issue, the only people that think it is an issue are PS3 users. The most graphically sophisticated game on the market at the moment is Crysis. When installed it takes up less than 7gbs yet it has graphics that blow anything a "next gen" console with a "next gen" disc system can do.

I don't see PC users worrying about game installations, I know I am not stressing myself too much about it. You seem to forget just because your console has a small 60gb drive doesn't mean PC users suffer the same. I believe the minimum HD installed in most new PC's is approaching 320gb's and it is a fairly simple procedure to add extra HD's

So I think the PC will do just fine, meanwhile certian console users will have to put up with 8 min installs and still have to run their games from a slow blu-ray drive.

PC's don't need Blu-Ray drives because they have the space on the hard drive to uncompress and install. Also, accessing a hard drive is much faster than a blu-ray disk

so you think DVD will be enough for another 10 years , because you can install any amount of data on current HUGE HDD s... ?

many ppl thought the same 5 years ago about CD .. sorry but your statement is hilarious :P ..

its really obvious.. 9 GB wont be enough for ultra high res textures, high def sounds..etc .. CRYSIS was just a DirectX 10 showcase nothin more.. I love the valuable single player games, so without nex-gen storage media all games will become just multiplayer with 1 hour single player, or sth like oblivion with copy paste textures all over the maps..

Crysis had a little BS story(voice acting,cutscenes,... etc ) and short single player ( open world but linear objectives )

@M337ING :
lol.. so why they didnt use CD instead of DVD ? u can install 25 GB of data in the same time as 9 GB from DVD just using Blu-ray.. in the future u will need to install 20 GB of data on your 2TB hdd from a Blu-ray drive just in 2 minute..

2.1 - got a bee in your bonnet ?
I don't even know why you are making an issue of this ? We have been through this change over so many times. There was a time when games fitted on 1 floppy, then cd's came out. Guess what happened for a while you could get games on floppy and CD till eventually they dropped floppy. Then of course there was the change over to DVD from CD. Yet again we saw games come on several cd's for a few years with the option of having them on DVD till DVD took over.

Please get this into your head storage is NOT an issue on the PC, you say 9gb isn't enough for "ultra high res textures" well I have yet to see a PS3 game with "ultra high res textures". I have seen plenty of PC games with "ultra high res textures" though. The only people at the moment flapping their arms and decrying we are all doomed because of DVD seems to be PS3 users. Hmm I wonder why that is, I mean I see multiplatform games on 360/PS3/PC and they all LOOK better, PERFORM better, run at HIGHER resolutions and framerates on the PC.

As for your dig that DVD games will become short 1 hour games, yeah how long was uncharted ? If memory serves that is a 5 hour game. Again game length and quality has absolutely NOTHING to do with the storage medium (like that is an issue on the PC anyway). I am quite glad Crysis didn't have much in the way of cutscenes, I want to PLAY my games not watch some naff cutscenes done by a moronic wannabe hollywood director.

I don't expect DVD to be around forever no doubt we will move on to a bigger storage medium sooner or later. However hopefully it will be done at the markets pace and not rammed down people's throat because "Sony says so" which seems to be the line you are following.
