it looks like home closed beta or open beta is coming REAL SOON.

"On about the 10th July we will be moving PS@Home to what will be its long term home and this will entail a new release of this code for you to download. I'm as disinterested in a new beta as you are...If I was any less interested because of Home issues, I'd have to withhold my comments because I'd consider myself too biased to make a statement.

I was very enthusiastic about Home, even discussing participation in Sony's Home commerce partnership initiative.

I changed my opinion after evaluating several aspects of it including a lack of basic information requested on marketing targets, adoption rates and months of forever changing deployment deadlines.

I don't mean to be negative but from a commercial point of view alone -- Separate from the admittedly impressive graphics -- what is there to actually DO to bring in "your" eyes, and get those into "my" shops that you can't do in easier ways at Amazon, or elsewhere?

From a business perspective it's best evaluated in comparison to other services...few of which have been successful.
Even Disney's have failed, who know exactly what their core metrics are and guests want! This limits the reasonable amount of investment I can consider, recommend or even plan for.

As it is, I don't care about any beta's...tell me when it's out, and REALLY out and I'll reserve any judgment till I actually see it's finished version myself.

Until then, I've seen little in current versions to change my schedule to 're-evaluate' this in late 2009 or after Sony's fiscal year, mid 2010.

I'm pretty sure it will be out by then!

isn't the PSP thing supposed to be your actual XMB?...meaning your dude pulls out his PSP, and on it is all the stuff on your PS3's real xmb?...and through that you can do all the xmb functions?...

that is how harrison showed it at E3 last year...but maybe its been changed...
