But, seriously, with Gears 2 on the way I'd considered buying a 360 too.

Both machines are great and - unless you have time to get through a sh1tload of titles - you aren't going to run out of great games if you own just one of these two great machines.

Couldn't imagine having one console this generation. Missing out on Gears 1 back in 2006 or Uncharted, R&C and HS last year. Now MGS4, R2, Gears 2, Fable 2 and LBP. I missed out on other platforms games as a kid being a hardcore Nintendo fan. Now that I can afford it I'll never miss out on ground breaking games again.

2.4 was a big step but the PS3 will never be complete until it has proper voice chat. Text chat is just not going to cut it.

I'd also like to see auto shut down after charging controllers or downloads complete like the 360. Really nice to queue up a bunch of downloads before bed. Couple of my favorite 360 features beyond universal voice chat.

Please refrain from acqusing N4G of bias. The site provides a service nothing more, it is more or less user run. Users submit the stories, user approve/report the stories etc. The admins/mods simply do not have the time to check every thread.

I think it's better to have both consoles! Even though, right now the Ps3 has only 2-3 current games I am interested in... I feel like I need to pick one up, just so that if another game comes out before FFXIII that catches my interest, all I have to do is pick up the game, and not worry about buying a system with it as well!

Both consoles have great games, no matter which one you feel more bonded to! I say it's not a time to choose sides, but choose both and enjoy both!

Keep MS and Sony competetive, and enjoy the fruits of their misfortune!

You took the words right out of my mouth. Both systems have alot to offer. While I do think that in another year or two at most the PS3 will be the home of the best games. Why do I say this? Simple, 2 reasons. Reason 1...Playstation, reason 2...Playstation2, both of these machines started out slow (especially the PS2) and look how diverse and LARGE the respective software libraries were at the end of thier lifecycles.

If you own a 360 and you have the money, my advice is to buy a PS3. This is a great time to get a PS3, there has only been 1 defining PS3 game so far (MGS4) and there will be many more consisting of both existing IP's and entirely NEW IP's.

E3 in less than 2 weeks will give us much more information as to what Sony and Microsoft have in store for us for the rest of 2008 and into 2009.

Go White Sox...this game is OVAH!!!

you're going to lose a lot on the trade-in. With RROD being so prevelant, people are going to be cautious of a used 360. Keep it and enjoy Gears 2 and all those great games that brought you to the system in the first place. But it's definetely time to at least consider picking up a PS3. That is unless you're just some blind fanboy that hates a Corporation that doesn't even know you're alive.

(even Far Cry Instincts is more interesting), and home looks like a waste of time (sorry sony). How about MGS4, White Knight Story, God of War 3, Final Fantasy 13, team ico etc...

In my humble personal opinion... Little Big Planet is very unattractive to me! No offense! If you like it... cool! But it just doesn't seem like something I would even bother with! The character design, and level design look like Sony's opposite reality to nintendo! HOME seems like another Second life, except for the PS3! I thought the concept of Second life was cool at first, and 15 minutes later I had no interest in it! In truth... all the videos shown so far lead to HOME being another second life!

Killzone 1 was hyped up to be a Halo killer, which was why I bought it. (This was back when I hated the fact that MS came up with a console, and were trying to get into videogames.) But after playing killzone 1, and seeing it wasn't that great... I bought a Xbox right when they dropped the price to $200. That's when I realized the benefits of having all the consoles! But anyway, Killzone 2 looks like it could be great, as long as the developers learned from their mistakes!

PS3 fans have been throwing loads of AAA titles at Xbox owners. However, as has been proven with Haze, the quality of these titles is not guaranteed. I think MGS4 looks great but I dont feel it is enough of a justification for me to purchase one just yet. Having said this, should these games fulfil their potential the PS3 will be home to a great gaming experience and anyone with the cash should buy one.

Up until now however I think Xbox owners have had the better time of it but I can appreciate the potential the PS3 embodies and it looks to be beginning to live up to its hype. Ive personally decided to wait until Christmas to see whats actually on the table (not potentially) to make a decision.

Last year i was glad that i owned a 360 over a Ps3 with Mass effect,gears,pgr4,forza 2,Ace combat,Blue Dragon,Halo 3, test drive, Naruto rise of a ninja and Vf5 online.

There were just to many good games to miss out on not to mention how much better live was cp to the psn.

This year i think its to close to call with the exception of mgs4. Mgs4 for me is the mass effect of this year ie the big story driven epic extravaganza.

Im waiitng till christmas to see how soem of Ps3 games turn out before i invest as apart from mgs4 and unchartered there isn't anything else i want to play particularly. I am still wary of dropping £300 on promise.

As for the 360 i still want to play Ninja gaiden 2 and if thye deliver Fable 2, Gears 2, alan wake,Infinite undiscovery,Too human, fall out 3 (1st) and S04 (1st) Not to mention tales of vesparia and last remnant (1st)

I find it funny that ardent Ps3 fans list gears2 as the only game they want to play on the 360 but don't mention any of the other of the promising games coming out not to mention its back catalogue. But then list resistance 2 a new ip and killzone 2 an ip with one below average game already out as games they want to play on The ps3.

Then again i also remember people mentioning Haze/lair as games to get a Ps3 for untill the reviews came in.

As for this article he raises some good points about the Ps3 benefits but its obvious that he also has alterior motives by even mentioning selling his 360 for a Ps3. Both consoles have promising games coming out this year new and old ips. Just a matter of waiting to see how they turn out.

But for those of us who bought a 360 last year or the year before we have been enjoying some great a/aa/aaa games with a great online service for a year or more.

Its great that the ps3 is finally delivering as the more great games/better online service the better but surely the smart gamers are those that have been enjoying the best gaming exp that has been offered each year regardless of the console. More money for less is not imo to smart.

This year should finally be the time where the 360/ps3 are both attractive from my perspective as a gamer. If i had to choose one to own for the upcoming games/features id be hard pressed to choose But because im a rpg fan id go for the 360 but that a personal preference.

I don't think you're investment in games is a waste. If you look at the ammount of entertainment you get out of games its a much bigger bang for the buck than any other form of entertainment.

Think about... Whats it like $10 to see a movie now? If you take your girl with you and get popcorn you'll be lucky to get out of there for $30 to $40 bucks. Thats for 2 HOURS!

Look at MSG4 as a comparison. I beat it in 22 hours. That would be $110 if I went to a movie by myself. And you just sit there watching in the movie. With games you control the action.

Interactive media is the future. Gamers tapped into that future first. Not a waste of money at all.

No definitely not. If you can only have one system you are better to go with the 360. You have more AAA titles, better online and over all better experience and features.

The PS3 is a nice system, but it is still crawling like your baby brother. It is growing and Sony clearly wasn't ready to born this system. At the current time, there are only a handful of games I would even considering owning...

Drakes Fortune...AMAZING!
MGS4...My favorite game at the moment. WOW!

and that is it.

On the Xbox, I have Call of Duty 4, which my peps and I agree is better on the 360, graphics and multiplayer wise (trying to invite a friend with the PS3 is mind-numbing retarded).

Grand Theft Auto 4 which without a doubt looks better on the 360. The PS3 has no AA and you can see it with all the jaggy lines. Trust me, I have had them on identical LCD tvs, both at 720p. It looks better! Call of Duty 4 for the PS3 has the same jaggy line problem, just not as bad.

Just wait for the PS3 to catch up and if the games are getting better and more developers will support it, I would get one.

The ones that own both are very lucky (like myself)!

I do have both and my comment above was talking to those who are thinking about either switching to the PS3 or getting one. I have both. I even had a dust collecting Wii. I have a computer in which I play COD4 one it all the time.

Does the PS3 suck? No, I didn't say that. You did. All I said was that the 360 has more, polished features. Sony will catch up some day. 2.40 is a good step, even though it is flawed. I like the PS3, it has some great technology built in. Way more advanced than the 360. Will the PS3 have better graphics than the 360??? Not sure. Who knows if the developers can figure it out or put the money into.

(Drakes Fortune and Metal Gear are the best games I have played in a very long time. Graphics, better than anything I have seen. They are the exception)

Don't misunderstand my views here, I am not for one system or the other. I am a logical, clear thinking guy. Anyone that truly has both systems would say the same thing! This might be the one subject that separates the men from the boys...

Moving on, do I love the 360? Yes I do, sure, the damn thing died 3 times already but the games are there and the online play is super simple. You can stream through Media center and do all that. Gimmicky but it works.

360 beats ps3 cause even tho sony dudes say they have a better 08 line up it doesnt matter at all, cause it will take 5 more years of better line ups to compete with 360's amount of great games. 360 doesnt need SW Battlefront clones like warhawk, and fakes like killzone 2, or Indy jones lookalikes like drakes fortune, thing is, 360's games are more imaginative, fun, and all function better with the high quality of xbox live play. You see, people like me, who are employed with a good job, dont worry about whether Live is free or not, cause people like me make something of themselves and are rewarded with a paycheck every two weeks, so paying for something thats a fraction of my two week paycheck ONCE a year isnt really that big of a deal at all, since i know im getting awesome quality.

my 360 has never failed, never got the RRoD, sorry pal, not everyone has that problem.

I personally am not on an offensive going around attacking 360 fanatics...its just that 360 fanboys need to understand that they had this coming...they had no problem dishing it out last year...and now have to face the fact that everything they predicted...didn't happen...

No one is tryin to stop her from buying a Xbox360. She expressed a concern and she was advised on the current state of things. You really should get upset it's not your fault.

360 man, you're blowing this way out of proportion. I know why I want a 360. I want a 360 because it has a few games that I want to play, and probably wouldn't make it on the PS3 in a while. If those games were on the PS3, I would have no reason to own a 360. I would have gotten a Wii or a PSP instead. I made it very clear that if it does brick on me the second, I'm getting it fixed and selling it on EBay.

And thanks a lot ya freakin' cowards for taking away my bubbles. I'm pretty sure a bunch of xbox fanatics took three of my bubbles because I spoke against their idiocy.

And just for the record you dumb sh*t, I'm getting a Nintendo Wii instead. I don't want my uncle wasting his money on a console like that. I would rather wait for a new Ninja Gaiden game to come on the PS3, and rpg's such as FFXIII and Versus than to deal with the migraine known as the 360.

Yeah 360 man we should listen to the fishhead who has a picture of himself with the PS3 in it. The Falcon 360's are not perfect but they are nothing like the launch units and are well within acceptable failure rates. If you are that worried wait till the Jasper 65nm GPU coming in the fall, at that point the RROD will be obsolete.

Would you take advice from a person who looks like he plays brokeback mountain with his PS3 on a daily basis?
