Doom 4 Coming To E3, Not To PS3?

I'm definitly with you on Doom 3. It was an insult IMO. Doom 1 and 2 were legends and while Doom 3 wasn't horrible, it wasn't what Doom is meant to be. id focused too much on graphics and too little on action and other stuff.

List it under rumors for now until official confirmation because according to e3.net, velvet Assassin is listed for PS3,360 and PC but according to the official website and the devs, it will only be for 360 and PC.

E3.net is even listing Splinter cell conviction as well.Not to sure about that.I am taking even the Alan Wake posting as a rumor.

EDIT: Anyway John Carmack does not really like the PS3 but he has gone on record to state that his games will be multi platform.But that was a long time ago.

Doom 3 may of sucked in comparison to the legendary Doom and Doom 2, but still was able to scare the living crap out of me. There are few games that do that and I love them for it.

One thing did come to mind. Could this possibly be one of the titles that MS announces at E3?

but seemed like I was playing the same level for such a long time, I got bored of it and never finished it. Id say it was boring too, games that I have purchased for PC lately and enjoyed so far are Age of Empires 3, Fable and FEAR. I also got San Andreas for PC but just got bored of it and never finished it, the GTA franchise needs to change or quit, too much of the same stuff. But yeah Doom 3 didnt suck but wasnt anything special, at least not good enough to keep you playing.

Watching the tech demo of ID's latest engine being used for Doom IV I really hope they just release a dumbed down port to the 360 like they did with 3 to the xbox, It's not that I hate 360 it's just that to use that engine to it's full potential you can't do it on 3 year old hardware, I think Doom 3 was pretty good, I just added a few mods to make it better like the flashlight mod and a mod that added more enemies. It was pretty decent, but if you want a modern doom stop b*tching and go out and buy serious sam.

I agree with captain tuttle's first statement, Sony camp will suddenly give no credit to Doom 3. PS3 fanboys are the worst, you guys are living in an alternate reality! Most of them don't like because its not coming out for their console of choice. When it gets announced for the ps3 you'll see a lot "oh but now that i've seen the gameplay/trailer I'm really looking forward to it, and I just know it'll be better on X console"

Velvet Assassins was previously known as sabotage not saboteur..That is why the name was changed.Saboteur is a different game that is for both 360 and PS3.

I remember both games, but played Saboteur 2 with the female ninja the most. The beginning was the coolest, where you ran over cliffs to enter through the roof of the building. I remember the weird looking flying kicks as well ;) I hope they've scrapped those by now.

3.7 - I think velvet assasin and sabotuer are 2 different games....

sabotuer is the one with black and white and you have to capture areas to return them to color and is a true story based on a resistance figher that use to be a race car driver....velvet asassin is based on a undercover british agent. both are located in germany is where the mix up is I think.

Doom 3 was awesome :) That website as krackchap pointed out has the game listed under every platform along with that but id never offically said what platform it would come out to. Heck they even showed the tech demo on a Mac so who honestly knows what it'll end up on.

Doom 4 isn't coming for a loooong time. Id's next game is Rage, and by the time Doom 4 is released the so called nextgen consoles like the PS3 and 360 will be grossly outdated and probably be unsuitable for it's graphics.

If they can't put Crysis on the console then they sure as hell won't be able to put a PC centric game like Doom 4 on this gen's consoles. Doom 4 coming the Xbox 760 maybe. Like Doom 3, Doom 4 will be a showcase game designed to flex the power of the next, next, NEXT gen PCs. Thats PC tech three years down the road folks.

Actually i can sit on my nice couch and play all my pc games on my 42" in with keyboard and mouse or bust out logitech controller at the ready with for when i do play my pc stuff. I Have my rig set under my television right next to my lil 360 and ps3 oh yeah my electricity bill is a killer. So yes u actually can enjoy gaming on pc not hunched over keys in the corner. Now back on topic, this game is sweet and really be exciting to see if indeed true, we shall see at E3 other than that, this is all nothing more than speculation and rumor.

Only Xbox 360 gives Id software and John Carmack, the worlds greatest programmer and graphics genius the power for him to fully realize his creative vision with Doom 4. The Xbox 360s superior technical specifications combined with superior middleware and software support allow the Xbox 360 to achieve unparalleled levels of fidelity and detail to create a Doom 4 experience only possible on the Xbox 360.

The PS3 is incapable of running something like Doom 4 due to its poorly realized architecture which incorporates a unwieldy cell chip along with inferior memory architecture with a mere 256mb of memory available to the GPU and with a resource hog XMB which hampers the PS3 and rendering it incapable of powering something like Doom 4. The PS3 cant even run games like GTA IV right, while the Xbox 360 accomplishes this with ease, always offering the superior version of any multiplatform title.

John Carmack and Id Software fully support the Xbox 360 as the true King of graphical power as the most complex home entertainment device ever created. If the worlds greatest programmer hates the PS3, you know something is wrong with your console.

being a fanboy smuk do you? I own 2 360's and will probally pick up Doom4 when it comes out, but also own a ps3 and am pretty sure that Killzone 2, Resistance 2, and SoCom Confrontation will be enough to tide the Ps3 fans Fps hungers for a long time. Killzone 2 is only possible on the ps3, and Doom4 would pose no problem running on the ps3. But by the time the new Doom comes out Infanity Ward will have another top notch Call of Duty ready for us. By the way Call of Duty4 runs way better on the ps3, so maybe Infanity Ward should develope Doom4 on the ps3, making it the best Doom made on a console to date. I hope Id does a better job on the Doom 4 engine then they did on Quake Wars for the 360, cause those graphics are way dated my friend.

Very astute observations Zhuk. Games like GTA IV and MGS4 which require long harddisk installations to run on the PS3 have revealed the severe limitations of the PS3 architecture and the complete fallacy of the Blu-ray storage argument. The only drawback of the 360 (a serious one no doubt) has been the RROD problem and thank God that's all fixed up now.

Doom 1 and Doom 2/Final Doom are still some of the most fun shooters imo...I played more Doom 2 as a kid than probably every other game combined (save maybe Twisted Metal 2)...

its generally accepted that Doom 3 was a disaster though among fans of the original...it had great graphics, but 100% threw away the stuff that made the originals awesome...Most attributed that to the fact that John Romero had left iD, whom was the creative director for the original games (as well as Quake 1, he left after that)...

I'll say this...If Doom 4 is some sort of sequel and similar to Doom 3...I probably wouldn't even rent it (I hated Doom 3 so much I didn't even buy the expansion)...if its another retelling of the orginal ACTION games...and actually has fast paced mindless shoot everything that moves, and has tons and tons of enemies...not to mention has to have grounbreaking multiplayer (another thing that made the originals so perfect)...I will be all for it...

aside from that though...it has long been understood that these PC devs, aside from Epic, do not prefer working on the PS3...Valve and iD have rarely said anything nice about it...interestingly though Carmack did confirm that a team is working with optimising Tech Engine 5 for the PS3, of which is most likely what Doom 4 will use...

I have always been a huge shooter fan...but after Quake, I understood that basically only small changes could be made to still keep the core gameplay great...seriously, whats changed since Quake 1?...reloading...melee attacks with more than one weapon...seperate grenade/explosive tossing...and a few cover systems here or there...in 15 years thats really all that has changed in the gameplay sense...which is ok...as a shooter fan you are most likely a graphics fan too...I love the progression in visuals that high budget shooters bring...Killzone 2 looks ridiculous so far...Crysis as well, although i don't have anywhere near a rig to run it...Doom 3 looked awesome at the time...It just failed in the whole being fun area imo...

what is really weird is that guys like Carmack come up with coding techniques that are used for several generations...they are unmatched in terms of programming perfection...

yet...all of them...have been against parallel processing since the beginning...they all were pushing for just upping clock speed in CPU and GPU power...I remember when dual cores were just starting to show up around the release of Doom 3, and carmack claiming that, over time, it would drastically hurt visual progression in video games...

now everything is at least 2 cores, or more...the technology sort of changed around them whether they liked it or not...the best devs around now are willing to embrace it...but some of these 'old school' devs are moving forward with grit teeth...which is simply hurting everyone, not just PS3 owners...

Just because a dev doesn't want to put a game on PS3 doesn't mean that MS paid someone off. Kleptic is right - PC devs would find the 360 easier to develop for because it's so similar to a PC. For a lot of devs, the PS3 has been a headache. The PS3 is very powerful hardware, but for some programmers, it might not be worth it.

They're all Sci-Fi based shooters.
Not saying there'll all on the level of the Doom series, just pointing out that there's simply a glutton of available titles in the genre.

360 people would be mad about not getting "DOOM4" because Sci-Fi based shooters is practically all they seem to play, but it won't be missed by PS3 owners as much as 360 fanboys would have you believe (and if it was we would just play the superior PC version).

The PS3 needs every game it can get. Because every game not ending up on the PS3, but does get console exclusive on the 360 is another reason for people that step in gaming to buy the 360 over the PS3. And Doom is a name that rings bells with a lot of people.

Having "Doom3" didn't help the Xbox against the PS2.
Having "Doom4" won't help the 360 against the PS3.

And if we do desire to play "Doom4" we'll just play it on PC, you know, like we can with Gears, Halo, Mass Effect and most of your other so called "exclusives".

Doom 3 was the kind of scary video game that makes you actually jump out of your seat.

great game, great addition for the 360.

It truly is a sign of things to come when you have two of the most talented developers EVER like John Carmack and Gabe Newell (from valve) going exclusive to the 360 just because they can't stand programming for the ps3.
