Microsoft has no answer to counter GTA4. What do they have Ninja Gaiden 2 and Too Human. Too Human althought looks like a good game it's not going to sell hardware like MGS4. It's Quality of Quantity. We have Resistance 2 to counter Gears 2.

What does "It's Quality of Quantity" mean? Also, "Microsoft has no answer to counter GTA4." I thought the game came out for both systems...I think you were trying to communicate that M-soft has nothing better on the plate after GTA4; am I wrong?

"We have Resistance 2 to counter Gears 2" Dude, the console wars are not an actual war. Enjoy the games. They both should be good.

Also, Ninja Gaiden 2 was never supposed to be a system seller. It sold 350,000 copies already...not bad for being out only 2 weeks. Too Human is more in line with the idea of "system seller."

Expected Metal Gear 4 to sell over a million. I think it has a lot more appeal than some analysts predicted it to have. Time will tell if it is a bigger system seller than GTA4. I'm looking forward to the Metal Gear Solid Data base on the PSN store tomorrow. Should clear up a few things...:-)

Actually i think the NG2 scores are really weak. With the install base advantage, i certainly expected it to sell more than it did. Biggest game for 360 this summer will be a multiplatform title called battlefield bad company. Great shooter on a system that loves shooters.

MGS4 CAN sell PS3 systems and it already has. MGS4 coming out on the PS3 this June was like Gears of War 2 coming out for the 360 later on this year. MGS4 may be a "niche" game title for a certain group of people, but I'm certain that there was a lot of other people that had not played a MGS game before and picked up MGS4 for the PS3 just because they knew that it was a talked about game and it was very anticipated. Also, the way that Kojima made MGS4, it is more appealing to more people, so that "niche" of MGS4 is almost thrown out the window, because anyone that has played Splinter Cell, Uncharted, or any 3rd person action game can enjoy MGS4.

I never doubted MGS4's ability to sell PS3 hardware for a second.

so that was over 2 days so MGS4 sold almost 1.5 million copies worldwide.That is really good with barely any tv ads good job Kojima indeed.It really does a gamer heart good to see MGS4 kick the crap out of wii play. Nice to see PS3 sales went up a couple hundred thousand consoles this being vg charts and all lets round that number up to 500k:P

I can try to answer that because of an experience I had on Sunday. I was in Gamestop buying the SNK collection for my PSP when I overheard a mom at the front counter with her son. She asked him "what is it you wanted?" And he replied "A PSP." Then the Gamestop employee talked her out of buying a PSP and got her to buy him a DS instead because he was 8. She then asked him if he wanted Nintendogs to which he replied "NO I WANT A PSP!" So there you have it folks. A true story and possible reason everyone is buying those DSL's.

The PS3 Sold almost 2.5 times more consoles than the Xbox 360 this week. The Xbox 360 hasn't been able to beat the Playstation 3 in worldwide sales in weeks now. Xbox fans need to think about the momentum surround the playstation. Clearly, this holiday, the number one console will be the Playstation 3 and although it's online interface is still progressing, it's free to play and offers less lag than Xbox 360 online play. With a much better line up in 2008 than the Xbox 360, the PS3 is now the worlds favorite "Next Generation" console.

Also, PS3, way to beat the wii in worldwide sales this week (even though we know the wii's just 2 gamecubes taped together).

Do you release that most of the people who will buy MGS4 have already bought a PS3 when it first came out or within the first week of the MGS4 release? the game is frontloaded, 300,000 more people aren't going to buy a PS3 for MGS4. Especially when the game is selling to the same core fanbase. The series launches are about the same every single time. Only MGS3 was significantly lower than the others.

yup, two mill minimum, i like the sound of that. sony knows waht kind of game they got on on their hands right now. and with them knowing that, they got a tight grip on it, they aint takeing a finger off of it. i personally think kojima favors the ps3, he wouldn't waist his time on making it for the 360 when hes making a movie and he wants to move on so hes already starting on another game probably.

Pretty impressive but still, Xbox 360 sold within what Ps3 does a week. Only, it didn't have a big release. < Kind of a different take when you look at it that way, isn't it?

ps3 out sells 360 world wide on a monthly basis. they out sell them every time, every where. they out sold them WW in '07 and the way its looking there going to outsell them WW in '08. and sony hasn't even woken up yet. like who does that? do you know what sonys pushing right now? let me clear something up real quick. you got a system that comes out at 600$, ok its selling pretty good for being so expensive. do you know what sony has to focus on wile staying in the game? ok, wii got a hand held and a wii. misrosoft just got the 360 to improve on as much as they want. now sony got, a hand held,a ps3, and a ps2 thats still in production. so when you think about it their doing like 4 times more work than MS and twice the amount of work the wii is doing. they got to keep up with devs for the ps2 and keep it in production with games and hardwear. keep up with devs for the psp and work on the psp firmware up-dates and the games and new ip's. and keep up with devs for the ps3 and work on the ps3 firmwere up-dates as well. thats not all. mean wile they still have to work on accessory's, new gadgets such as the transformer and the "ps3mote", HOME is a big project ther working on on top of that. mean wile they have a ton of games in production right now from their own. they just brought out QORE. and they have a ton of more stuff to work on such as the videostore and the ps3 slim.

Halo 3 had 4 million unit in pre-orders(eventually selling out).
It also averages 1.3 million players a day(counted in 18 hour period) on XBL mulitplayer.
And thats an all-time low(last average was done in May).

Normally I would say these stats are good. But Pimpstation has a point, it WAS more like Halo 2.5

We went with the peak hours of the day and night. sometimes it was split shifts 9/9, and some times it was 6 hours at a time, 3 times a day(6/6/6 <---creepy.) I imagine the number could have been slightly bigger if we average a day in terms of 24-hrs, but that wouldnt be fair because some of those account logging in would have been counted twice.

M$ has already blown their load, while Sony is just beginning its attack. The PS3 is no longer simply a blu-ray player. It's now a MGS4 player.

The 360 was out a full year ahead of the PS3 and sold over 8 million of its total prior to the PS3 even being available.

Fact is, the PS3 has been closing the gap for the past year, and that was BEFORE there were AAA titles, so what do you think is going to happen now that the AAA titles are arriving and BluRay is the optimal disc format?

PS:

360iots will buy "Halo Wars" because it says "Halo" on the box, and then they'll realize its just another repetative RTS Command and Conquer clone with Halo windowdressing thats not even made by Bungie.
