100 Greatest games of all time

UK Retail giant GAME has revealed the results of their poll to find the top 100 video games of all time. Over 100,000 votes were cast with the results throwing up a mixed bag of both timeless classics and modern masterpieces. The results show the current popularity of first person shooters as they take up five of the games in the top ten. Another notable result is Shenmue coming in at number 25 showing that the series is still in many gamers minds despite SEGA's reluctance to complete the trilogy.

PlayStation 2 takes the console crown having the most games from one individual console in the list. Final Fantasy VII being the most voted for game on the system coming in at number 3.

the people who voted are more then likely 12 years old. The voters should have been GAMERS for at least 20 years, not just been ALIVE for 12. It's very hard to have a "Best of all time" list when most of the voters know nothing about gaming before PS2.

Thats counting the games of same series which are total error.
It has a lot of mistakes like having ICO at No 100 and COD4 at No 1.

im supised that cod4 is number 1 it is good but come on what is so diffrent about it.

There are so many great 8 bit and 16 bit games that, as far as most people seem to be concerned, might as well never have existed, games that have no true equivalents, apart from ports, in the Playstation era and beyond.

You would have thought from these lists that the only good 2D platformers ever made all starred Mario and Sonic. At least Crash Bandicoot got a mention this time but I would have voted for Crash Team Racing (even better than any Mario Kart game to me).

I'm glad to see Monkey Island 2 there- I would say that they are the wittiest games ever made but I like Curse of Monkey Island too, even though Ron Gilbert wasn't involved with it.

What about Rare's AAA platformers eg- the Donkey Kong Country series, Banjo Kazooie and Tooie, Donkey Kong 64, Conker's Bad Fur Day? Did they split the vote too much? Did they get many votes at all?
