Star Ocean 4 titled Star Ocean The Last Hope, confirmed for 360 in 2009

Square Enix has confirmed that RPG Star Ocean 4's official title is Star Ocean The Last Hope.

The company gave the details at the Microsoft's ongoing Xbox 360 RPG Premiere 2008 event in Tokyo.

Update: The issue of Star Ocean’s platforms has been clarified on IGN. From the site:

Square Enix producer Yoshinori Yamagishi cleared things up during a roundtable interview session that followed the press conference. Asked if the game is 360-only, he said, “We cannot announce anything on that. We can say that it will be released first [on the Xbox 360]. Whether we’ll release it on the PS3 is undecided. We may release it, we may not.”

The blog clearly states that it never said "Exclusively" to the 360. In fact, here is the entire blog entry:

"Square Enix has confirmed that RPG Star Ocean 4’s official title is Star Ocean The Last Hope.

Now what I derive from this post is that Square Enix was at a MS event in Tokyo and they confirmed the title and that it would be releasing on the 360. If it were exclusive I think they would have mentioned it. They wouldn't mention the other consoles because it was an MS event.

Woah, well done MS Japan!

You've gotten your own Tales game series by the looks of it, 'Tales of Versperia', much like the Wii has Symphonia.

You've got the likes of Cry On coming up, by the amazing Sakaguchi and it Lost Odyssey is anything to go by then that will be win!

Add the likes of Infinite Undiscovery to that list.

Now you've gotten Star Ocean 4 under your belt.

Then you've hit it with Last Remnant, by SquareEnix as a Timed Exclusive.

Can't give them more than enough praise, even if Japan doesn't because even if they don't want all this good stuff, I do ;)

After today, even if these titles are not exclusive, the 360 doesn't seem like a bad choice at all.

And why is my PS3 still continuing to wait for those inevitable AAA games?

Its a good move and besides if square enix were to put kingdom hearts or final fantasy as an exclusive for 360 it wouldve bombed. This is why I knew star ocean 4 made more sense. But I have a feeling its only time exclusive unless the 360 has big sales for star ocean 4 but I doubt it since Lost Odyssey didnt sell so well.

Wow, this is another nail in Sony's coffin. The system that was home to 97% of all rpgs is now reduced to 0% RPGs. what happened? Almost 2 years out and the ps3 hasn't had 1 rpg hit the system Folklore, maybe and That's really pushing it guys.

Sony should've paid for exclusives to Suikoden & Final Fantasy this time out. Atleast give us Something internally. Wild Arms, Alundra, Legend of Legia, Legend of Dragoon, Dark cloud all are Sony owned IP but where are they? Where is Sony's answer to this?

Are they just gonna sit back and let Japan go xbox 360 green too? Rpgs sell systems and right now Sony isn't selling anything.

I know you people all like to believe its still console exclusive or something, but why would they shoot themselves in the foot in Japan? They saw what happened to Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.

They've already expressed interest in how Sony moves, look at the Star Ocean remakes.

Sony always waits to mid system lifespan to throw out rpgs.we still have Atlus,Factor 5,NIS,Final Fantasy and X seed besides Namco Bandai are still porting Xbox 360's Eternal Sonata and we will also get Tales of Vesperia because Famitsu reported on it plus Famitsu said a bit ago Star Ocean 4 The Last Hope will be on PS3 and also Xbox 360. I'm glad i own both consoles, but tbh i wanted this to be a ps3 exclusive. I played mass effect on 360 and liked the idea of another space exploration game coming out on a system and could take advantage of the hard drive n blu ray space. I now mass effect was big n all, but still there were loading screens all over the place. Lol those infamous elevators, didnt bother me too much tbh.
I'm still pretty new to "next-gen" and maybe i've listened to too much rhetoric, but do any of you think the hd drive benefit expectation was just bull? and it'll be real good anyway?

THey did say that the game would be exclusive to what ever platform it was announced on, and i s'pose "business is business". I just thought it'd DEFINITELY be a ps3 exclusive.

Then again, PS3 has the year on lockdown and that game and the TLR is not going to save 360 (especially in Japan, where it's abysmal). Y'all need these games. We are full of exclusives and taking your games anyway.
