MTV Multiplayer: Box Art Reviews: 'Metal Gear Solid 4,' 'BlastWorks,' 'Insecticide' and More

MTV Multiplayer writes: "What do people do when they hit the video game store? They look at box art, that's what. That's why we started shallowly judging games by their covers to help box art designers do their jobs right. Here goes…

"Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots" (PS3)

What the Box Tells Us: Snake ain't the young whipper-snapper he used to be. The graphical power of the PS3 is to longtime game characters as HD television is to actors over 40. No time for Botox or facelifts here. "Metal Gear" is finally here, and it holds nothing back… including gray hairs, crow's feet and under-eye bags. Simple and to the point, this cover shows that the old codger is ready to fight to the bitter end.

4 - I think this box art is really successful
It's really eye catching. Snakes mug fills the entire frame...it's very dynamic and will stand out from other box covers. I think it's perfect for the general public. However, with that said. I really do like the cover art for the SE. It's the perfect cover for the MGS diehard. It was actually enough to make me go with the SE as opposed to the reg version. SO CLOSE!!!!

Well I'm buying the SE for the cover and the extras.

Including the Blu Ray documentary of MGS4.
It might be just a documentary for us, but it is priceless memories for the makers.

I like the Limited Edition MGS4 Box Art better...the hand drawn look of the Special Edition looks a lot more unique to me, but the Standard Edition Box Art pretty nice as well.

7 - I love this cover more than the others..don't get it twisted, they all rock!!
This shows emotion, it makes me wonder what he's thinking. It's in my top 10 box covers now.

This box art has always looked good for me since day one. Granted, it wasn't enough to prevent my purchase of the SE but that cover of Old Snake says so much about this game. Next-Gen Snake going all the way until the bitter end.

I wonder, though, will it be like Assassin's Creed's where:

The big outside box had this cover

I personally really dislike MGS4's box art.

I would've preferred a stylized drawing, like MGS4's special edition's box art, instead of a 3D render.
