Will Fable 2 Live Up to the Hype?

Fable, released in 2004, was Molyneux's first role playing game (RPG) and his ambition going into the game was simple. "I want to make the best RPG ever," he said at the time. The game sold many millions of copies but Molyneux has admitted that the game did not match his ambitions. Fable is considered by many to be one of the best RPGs released on the original Xbox.

He and his team at Lionhead Studios are now working on a much-anticipated sequel. And this time his ambitions are no less far reaching. The question is will it become the legendary RPG originally perceived and finally reach the creative vision of Molyneux?

Im under the impression that it will. This based on the fact that i enjoyed the first game, and that all the features in this game sound promising.

And im also willing to say i have faith in Molyneux. He knows he is under some intense pressure in this game...and that if it fails, hes screwed...lol.

As long as Fable 2 gets a 8 Average review...i will be extremely satisfied. I loved the first one, but I don't want the dumb "dog" thing in Fable 2.

I am sure when I have friends playing with me on my 360 (reason I bought a 360 was Fable 2) at same time in Fable 2 w/ Splitscreen...it will be a 10/10!

Top three favorite games of all time? Possibly the best ever? I don't care if it does turn out to be like that, he shouldn't say something that stupid. And while I'm sure the game will be great, I'm also sure that it will not be one of the top 3 games ever for the average or hardcore gamer.

I think you're giving the game too little credit. The first was a great experience. The only thing hindering it was the length, and the fact that Molyneux promised alot of things, and didnt live through with it. Either than that, there was nothing really bad about this game.

And maybe the little sign of hype may be a good thing for this game. Even though i disagree (I think their is plenty of hype)

I didn't like about the first Fable was that it seemed kind of short. The world in Fable 2 is supposed to be a lot bigger. Plus the online co-op should definately give it a lot of replay value.

5.1 - Fallout 3 and Fable 2 will be different in their own right

I politely disagree. Each game will offer a different flavor of rpg. Fallout 3 is to put it bluntly...huge like Oblivion and set in a post-apocalyptic world. Fable 2 is likewise about exploration but more restricted, and medieval for that matter. I have high hopes for each.

It must be my lack of attention span but i needed the game to pull me in the first 15 minute or I'll not play. But maybe i'll pick it up again because Fable 2 looks very promising. At least the Online Coop part of the game does.

Which is extremely short for an RPG. Hopefully its an amazing 8~10 hours, and Molyneaux doesn't get sidetracked by the optional segments, such as getting married and starting families.

I wonder if there will ever be an RPG franchise to possibly equal Final Fantasy's success. I think that the Kingdom Hearts series will be the next major RPG series once Final Fantasy ends ( if it ever ends!!) and I didn't know that Fable 2 had been in the making for this long.

There really isnt much hype for this game. When most people (on this site anyway) talk about future games they keep ot many mention this game. I personally have high hopes for this game. I like games like fable. Even tho lead dev Pete lied about alot of the features in his last fable, it still turned out fun to me. I played it for a good long time.

Now that the game has co-op and is running on the 360 instead of the original xbox. I think it will be pretty good.

Now back to my chinese food.

There is no hype, Fable2 has been kept on low profile to avoid the usual hype trap. You only get to see a few scraps now and then, thats not building hype.

There will be a heatup for the marketing soonish though. As games need to be promoted more than in the past. I guess E3 will be the start.

I am sure that Fable2 will be much better than Fable1, though 1 bored me halfway through.

I will await the PC release and if reviews are favorable i will buy it. It's an RPG after all, i always buy those.

So where is MGS4 in 1080p (its 720p) with 120fps on 2 large HD screens at the same time? I've already said, MGS4 looks like a fine game. The first one exclusive on or over 90% average rated after more then 1.5 years after the PS3 launch.

People praise that game but I thought it was an RPG w/ training wheels. Sure, it was one of the best RPG's on XBOX1, but that's not saying much.

The game had a lot of potential but it just fell short w/ only 10hrs worth of gameplay. If Fable 2 can just deliver where its predecessor fell short it would be an awesome game.
