EA's Madden-sponsored yearly videogame strips away none of the intricacy or depth, and so it's not surprising that it leaves most non-believers in a state of almost paralytic befuddlement. 'Bluegrass Miracle'? 'Zone blitz'? 'Flea flicker'? What the hell do these words mean?

It's taken EA long enough, but with Madden 09 it seems we'll finally get an American football game that doesn't alienate casual observers with its impenetrable action. Instead, we're going to be taught how to play from the inside out, every step of the way. And it does it by calculating your Madden IQ.''

The reason american football players wear pads is that back when they didn't wear pads several players would die each year. So it was either outlaw the sport (which was seriously considered) or put the players in pads.

So.. in short, american football without pads = death, rugby without pads = well, rugby. so whats the "gayboy" sport again?

there is more injuries in american football every year than there is in rugby, they really dont hit eachother all that hard in rugby, if they hit in ruby like they did in the nfl then i would completly agree that american football was soft

why else would they sell it, for example if Snatcher for the Sega cd had sold we would have policenauts but because snatcher failed konami didnt give an Enlgish release.

I dont know any of my UK friends who are interested in American football, let alone want to play a game based on it.
Regardless of how accesible it is there just isnt enough interest.

Madden will sux again... Them trying to cater to ppl who either dont know football or suck has destroyed madden. Give me my madden 06 or even 07 for ps2 with just better graphics and roster and ill be happy 07 and 08 were terrible huge step backs in madden.

8 - Getting back to the actual article...

The new feature looks like a great idea. Madden has become more and more complex over the years - just like real football - but it might be intimidating for the casual fan who doesn't see value in all the nuances - they just want to run, throw and tackle.

To me this seems like the most worthwhile new feature added to a Madden game for the last few years.

If I wan't to kick a ball I just go outside and do it, don't need a game for that.
