Why Is the Ps2 out selling the Ps3?

During this March the Playstation 2 had sold 4 million units more than the Playstation 3. Sony was estimated to be losing over $100 dollars each Playstation 3 that they sold. Maybe Sony should focus on hand helds.

The PSP is Sony's best selling machine and maybe making up for some of the Playstation 3's mistakes. Sony may need to go back and focus on developing games for the Playstation 2 instead of the Playstation 3. Its actually not a bad idea simply because more people buy the Playstation 2 and more people own them. Maybe The Playstation 3 can turn things around this fall with the release of HOME and Little Big Planet.

Little things like No controller vibration that they have brought back with the Dual Shock 3, not really supporting their online features like Microsoft did with Xbox live and not having a good line up of games during its earlier days.

But Sony does have some really good titles in their line up. Metal Gear Solid 4 will definitely inspire some people to go pick up a Playstation 3. Kill Zone will be a great hit and also Some games that were exclusive to the Xbox 360 will be released like Bio Shock and Saints Row 2.

Yeah they should try to stay up with current affairs. Then they would know that Sony still does develope games for the PS2. That Sony still has shown full support for the PS2 and the money they lose selling PS3's at a loss, they make back on the mostly for profit PS2.

They didn't just launch the PS3 and then just yank the support carpet out from under 140 million customers feet. They'll let the PS2 go when they feel the time is right.

You might want to do your homework and a little research if you are going to write articles critizing a companys business tactics.

It is especially amateurish if one considers a very simple deduction. A deduction I might add, is based on their own claims.

The PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 worldwide in 2007. Fact. Thus far in 2008, the PS3 has outsold the Xbox 360 worldwide. Fact. Therefore by deduction of their claims, the PS2 is outselling the Xbox 360. Microsoft is getting beat by the competition from last gen. MS are the ones that need to go back to the drawing board. It is all gravy for Sony.

The screwheads at that site need to understand who is in hotwater and it isn't Sony. I guess they would be happier if Sony dropped support for the PS2 and screwed their customers the way MS screwed me and millions of other people when they tossed the Xbox out on the trash heap.

Why does the Wii outsell the PS3 and the Xbox? Because it's a cheap alternative. Unfortuantely the system's low cost is also accompanied by low performance. If the Wii causes the industry to cater to the low cost bracket I'm scared that technological jumps will become a thing of the past.

If I was for example just new to gaming in consoles plus am on a tight budget, for sure the PS2 will definitely be on top of my list.
I won't even think twice, especially as their selling them over here in Oz for AU$199 maybe even less on some shops plus loads of pre-owned titles for less than AU$10 compared to all the next-gen one's costing 3 to 4 times more both in hardware and software.

*** But then truth be told as well that since late 2007 onwards, the PS3 has really picked-up the pace in their library of game titles., and a very good bunch at that.

All during 2007 and all of 2008 the PS3 has outsold the 360 worldwide. You are being too US centric. The US isn't the entire world. The PS3 is beating the 360 worldwide in sales and it is only going to get worse.

I am more inclined to believe John Carmack who said the PS3 is more powerful rather than think anything spewing out of your suckhole resembles a correct assumption. And now, in cases like GTA4, more and more developers are discovering how the PS3 will let them go beyond the 360's last gen features.

ppl r so naive, they think because the PS2 is outselling the PS3 that's a bad thing? Fact of the matter is, most next-gen games that come out are just glorified xbox/ps2 games. They take the same concept and give it some technical improvements then bam, there is your game.

I'm still waiting for games to start using next gen technology to enhance the gameplay. There are few titles that actually do this.

When that starts happening then you're going to see more ppl buying PS2's then PS3's.

OH my, look at all the spawns of ken and kaz come out and try to save their father's creation. The only idiots in the world are ps3turds claiming the sales victory. Thanks to BD and HD wars and free movies by sony that ps3 was able to outsell 360. Now as we know sony's taken a back seat in promoting its BD player and only handful of gamers will buy ps3s. You'll see significant sales drop of ps3 this year.

Some people still feel the PS3 is still expensive.
PS2 is cheaper than the Wii and it has more games.
The way I see it people are saving, planning, and waiting to buy the PS3 all it takes is one game and let me tell you Sony has plenty of games for everybody.
To test any product for it's value first you have to test it, play it, and try it out.
That's what I did and it was totally worth it.
I bought the 60GB when Sony had it's first price drop in August of 2007 for $500 and all I have to say is that's money well worth spent.
