End of Intel, AMD duopoly near? Via readies Isaiah chip

Is the end of the Intel-AMD duopoly nigh? Via Technologies is hoping this may be the case when it announces the "Isaiah" processor later this month.

2 - it looks like it will take time before it can get to the desktop market
the processor currently performs close to C2Solo Processor, and to me that means entry level laptop

It's always interesting to see a new company enter the CPU arms race. Good luck to Via. Until then, I guess my 3.0GHz Core 2 Duo will hold me over.

I hope Via can do well in the field of CPUs. I'm also looking forward to seeing what AMD can do in the field of combined CPU/GPU systems. It will be interesting to see what sort of performance can come of it but I'm also skeptical of the costs required to upgrade a combo processor.

erm...let me hazard a guess...can via make viable cpu that competes competitively agasinst amd and intel...no.
