I wonder if this is a culture thing. Americans are pretty sensitive around weight issues, not sure if Japan is.
I got on the Wii Fit board and it said one at a time please :(

Considering that America's rate of obesity per capita is about 10 time that of Japan, around 30% to 3% respectively, you'd think that American's would be used to it ;)

5.3 - actually...
Yeah the Japanese are sensitive about weight considering they are are skinnier on average than the typical American. You'd figure since America has so many fatties that we would be used to be calling fat by now.

You are correct. You would think people would be used to it, but seeing as there are many people who dress like sausages and like to say "hmm, girl you look good!" then it is no wonder people are somehow shocked when the board tells them they are fat.
Here are some suggestions:
1. You're chubby, but juicy.
2. You must look like a sausage!, but tasty.
3. WOW keep your warranty papers handy...

7 - I agree
As an American, I concur that we are too damn fat. When I was a kid, the fat kid always got made fun of in class. Now that Im an adult, I realize that every kid is the fat kid! Parents need to take some responsibility with their children. But on the plus side, with everyone around me being obese, being in good shape makes me look that much better, keep it up US!!

9 - Nintendo has nothing to apologize for...
People need to not be so sensitive...if it offends them, then they must realize they have a problem and just don't want it pointed out to them.
Lay off the Burger King and Excercise some, and you'll be fine.

Why should Nintendo apologize?
If you're fat, you're fat. If you waited for a video game to tell you that then you're pretty much in denial.

1 - Good!
It's good that Nintendo calls fat kids...fat. Overprotective parents don't have the guts to be honest with their kids and would rather let them grow obese than risk to expose the kid to the horrible truth. I used to be over weight, but I managed to lose all the extra weight and become fit. Though only after admitting to myself that I was FAT. It's not an insult, it's a state of being. Creds to Nintendo and a merry "piss off" to the moronic parents.
