New informations regarding gameplay-recording and YouTube-uploading on PS3 revealed

Sony claimed that all Firmware 2.35 did was "improve stability of some PS3 titles". Well, it turns out that the YouTube compatibility is one of those secret updates that occasionally make it unannounced into a PlayStation 3 firmware update. The functionality was added to the PS3 operating system via Version 2.35 of the firmware.

At the moment, Mainichi Issyo is the only title to do so.
It has just been revealed that videos are captured at 320x240, 30 frames per second and saved in an MPEG-4 file at 768kbps. Sound is recorded at 64kbps in AAC format. The maximum clip length is ten minutes.

Upon selecting to finish their recording sessions, players are given the choice of either saving their clips to the hard disk or uploading them to YouTube. Choose the latter option, and you're prompted for your YouTube user name and password. The game then uploads the clip on the spot, showing a progress bar while you wait for the upload to complete.

sometimes its better not to announce or warn people of new features. Announcing things doent normally speed anything up ala in game XMB. Things will come when they come we just have to be patient. Good feature though, nobody saw this coming

Game-Recording/Theater is an awesome feature in Halo 3 that I wanted implemented in every game out there, plus Forge.

Can't wait for current games to get patched for it.

that's pretty neat...I hope they have a devoted section on youtube for it...It was probably youtube idea, or maybe singstar led the way...this might be pretty big once the big hitters latch on to it, maybe if we could upload replays from GTP or like a speed run on one of the platformers...

but i think this could be one of the features of in-game xmb. Phil Harrison talked about this feature way back. they said they were researching it.

and this cat game is the first one to receive in-game xmb,music and friend list (all of which are coming for all games). so i think there's a chance that this will also be an standard feature when in-game xmb comes.

Well it would be cool if they allow the user to create videos with the developers putting specific efforts on it. I mean the system should all the video recording and put that feature in the ingame xmb that they are going to release at some point in time :D

Its up to the developer to include this functionality.

Sony doesn't ORDER and DICTATE to developers how to make games. Sony just gives developers the tools.

It would be really awesome if they implemented this in all PS3 titles, and then inserted a sort of "video-box" one could purchase in home for a couple bucks, and then watch youtube clips on your tv's in Home

I started recording video game speed runs with Master Blaster on the NES with my betamax.

Hurray! Now if only we would get some game patches for past titles.

Particularly Oblivion I have an Uber mage with a custom spell named Nookular. Can only cast it once with max buffs but damn it looks cool.

Look at this video of the Mainichi Issyo and at the end when the video is uploading it is not in a black screen but uploading while still ingame. IT IS COMMING!
