I'm so excited for the PS3. The games are looking phenomenal and PSN is coming along nicely. Once Sony masters software...well you know the rest.

Best console I have ever bought and it's the first one I ever bought too. My brother bought me a PS1, and my uncle still has the big PS2. Been hooked on the PS brand ever since.

This guy kinda loses some credibility with me when he cites the Xbox 360 titles (Halo 3, Gears of War) by saying that shooters can't hold his attention very long, yet he lists Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 as big reasons for him choosing the PS3 over the Xbox 360... That part did sound a bit "fanboy-ish" to me. Aside from that, his complaints about the Xbox 360's hardware (RROD) and XBox Live fee are hard to
argue with.

Calm down PLEASE... This isn't a fight, it's an article voicing one guy's opinion. And you are wrong on many of your bullets above. Just to name a few:

-XBL does feature free content, a lot of it, including themes

-The Xbox360 does have WiFi capabilities, and you can upgrade the hard drive... Yes, they cost money, but they are available

-Of course the PS3 did not get the RROD, but right now, the whole GTA 4 freezing issue is a PRETTY big deal. I'm not saying it's anywhere near the RROD issue, but you can't act like the PS3 is functionally flawless

-Did the PS3 have anything to compete with Halo 3, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Oblivion... C'mon man, the PS3 has been getting stomped in the exclusives department. And even though that is about to change, we all know that it's been a slow 18 months for the PS3

To each their own I guess. NG was the reason I bought the first Xbox but I enjoyed many other games on it. I had other reasons to buy the 360 but NG2 has put me over the top with excitement. NG2 for 360 and God of War 3 for PS3 are the games that I am looking forward to the most but will not be all that I buy.

Yeah, I am not saying Ninja Gaiden is bad, not at all. If it was on the PC or PS3 I would definately play it (like I did with Sigma) and you are definately entitled to your opinion.

Also... yeah, God of War is one of my favorite series of all time (if not the favorite) God of War 2 seriously made me forget to breathe sometimes. hehehe

To above - yeah with Fable 2 being open-world - it falls into my favorite type of game - thus my Oblivion love - a carryover from Morrowind which was only available on the original Xbox - not the PS2.

I'm still working my way through FFXII. The slim PS2 is simply sexy. It is amazing to me that so much gaming goodness comes out of such a small package.

And you are right about Blu-Ray - that is why I'm saving for a 1080P TV first. I'm also waiting for the DualShock 3 to be included standard. When I do finally play some of the PS3 exclusives, they will be in all their graphical glory (even if the game is not necessarily in 1080P.

My goal is to get the new TV just before Gears 2. My PS3 will be very shortly after that - perhaps in time for the launch of KillZone 2.

I spent the better part of 5 months playing my 360 on a Hitachi 50" SDTV that had a best connection of S-Video, and then picked up my JVC 56" HDTV early last year (before I picked up my PS3). You will not believe the difference. The clarity is unbelievable. I have found my self playing some of my older games again and finding them much easier and more enjoyable to play because I can now see everything the developer intended...case in point...Gears of War, on my Hitachi, I did not know there was a skull on Marcus's bandanna around his forehead, the JVC, plain as day!

I own both (in fact all three + PS2) and for the most part of the last 2years I've prioritised my gaming as follows 1) 360, 2) Wii, 3) PS3, 4) PS2.

Now I'm sure people will disagree with me about the Wii but the fact is it has elements of gameplay that the others can't compete with (ie. Wii Sports, Galaxy and Boom Blox), plus every time my family is over that's the console that comes out to play.

In regards to PS3 v 360. For the last two years the 360 has dominated my hardcore gaming simply because of better games, Live and I'm sorry to admit... achievements. The PS3 has had some good titles, I particularly loved Unchartered and really enjoyed Folklore, but the 360 exclusives and generally better performing third party titles have kept me glued to my 360.

However, this year it's likely to change, to a point where my time is evenly split. MGS4, LittleBigPlanet and Resistance 2 are high on my most wanted list and will likely compete for my gaming time with Gears 2, Fable 2 and Banjo 3. But I'm likely to stick to third parties on my 360 simply because I enjoy achievements (I'm not going to start all over with trophies!) and Live works seamlessly with all my friends. In the case where a third party game performs better on the PS3, such as Burnout Paradise, then of course I'll pick it up.

I really liked the author's approach. He likes one more but doesn't hate the other. That's pretty much my mantra... I like my 360 more at the moment but there's no hate for my PS3, which I suspect at some point I'll like better. Best of all, I don't emotionally invest myself in a system but rather in the games which means I'm always a happy gamer. :)

EDIT: In regards to achievements I really appreciate them and I can understand that for PS3 only owners the whole "enhances the game" concept is currently totally foreign. But soon all PS3 owners will have trophies and will understand the true value of them. They enhance a game beyond it's linear path and encourage you to explore elements that you may have otherwise missed.

Having said that I couldn't give a crap about gamerscore (ie. total sum of achievements) as that's just another "look who's bigger" contest similar to all the console posturing. But achievements/trophies in themselves are fantastic when they expand and deepen an individual game's experience.
